Fishraider Record Captures

As of Friday 23/12/05 we will now keep & display here records of the top 5 fish of each species. This way we can view more of the great fish that have been taken by Fishraider members. yahoo.gif

To keep this fair in future only fish photographed with a tape will be eligible for entry as a record. With larger fish like Kingfish , Jewfish that are released it will remain on the honour system but if the fish is dead a tape alongside is needed. If in doubt or can't get a tape submit the fish anyway & the moderators or Admin will decide whether it is eligible or not.

All measurements will be rounded down to the nearest centimetre. Picture quality issues don't allow millimetres to come into it.

We would also like pictures of the angler holding the fish if possible - smiling hopefully.

Please remember it's just a "friendly" record & there are no prizes only prestige biggrin2.gif

Good luck and remember there are plenty of potential records out there that could have your name on them.

Cheers Admin

Great idea Stewy - even if folk don't have a tape, they can lay their rod alongside the fish & that is another way of guestimating the length .... just identify your rod model & whether the tip has been busted off or modified in any other way :1prop: for a more accurate record.

What I do (with Beach & Blackie rods anyway :) ) is to cut the actual 'measurement strip' off the Fisheries Measurement Tape (the one with all the fish species shown on it) & attach it to the top side of the rod (or on the side if you want, so the reel handle can rest on the ground & keep the rest of the reel out of the sand.)

The strip is less than 1cm wide, so doesn't cover the rod at all & you can remove it easily at any time if you want to. You don't even have to touch the fish to measure it - just lay it on the ground, on the hook & measure it, then either keep it or release it.

Cheerio

Please read the above rules, particularly in relation to tape measures. I've been easy on members with record claims as it's all meant to be in fun.

In future I'll still exercise moderators discrection as Stewy has noted, but where fish are close to existing records or there might be some uncertainty... a photo against a tape will now be enforced more strongly. You can always get photos against your fishing rod or some other item that you can later get a proper measure from.

Submit any fish you feel worthy, measure or not, and it will be reviewed kindly... but please understand if we have to knock one back too.

Cheers, Slinky :bump0ee:
