Hi All

I have just put down my deposit on a quintrex top ender 450 the pictures I have just taken off the internet but are identical except for the motor which is a Yamaha 60 h p 4 stroke plus front plate for minkota plus extra cranking battery and switching.

Plumbed 70lt live well with divider and rear plumbed live bait tank.

Lowrance Elite-5 HDI that I won about 18 months ago but never used It.

The boat also comes with a 2 way but I do not know much about it.

. That's all I can think of except that when I come home from Port Stephens I will have a Trophy Explorer to sell unless I decide to use it as a trade in.

I will not have the boat till late March or April and I am buying it from Terrace Boating up Newcastle way

woywoy col :)

PS Can you sell Boat on this forum

Best boat. Make sure the battery well will be large enough for the size of battery you want. These boats are very smooth on the water and the Yammi is a gem. All the best

Thank you squidboy for your replying.

I will check on the battery fit up there is an other battery for the minkota in the bow of the boat I will have that wired up with a water prof Anderson plug for easy charging I have 25 amp smart charger.

I was going to do that with the trophy explorer that I have at the moment... not sure what I will do with that boat at this stage sell it or trade it

Hi All a lot has happened since I last communicated on the boat up grade.

I have decided to go for the 481 top ender not a lot difference in size but better options, slightly larger motor and a better boat to fish out side, on the right day.

There is one question and that is the physical size of the batteries.

I am getting a 24 volt 80 push 60 inch shaft Minkota.

I wanted to put 2 Century AGM 12volt 105ah L 306.5 H 210 W 169 would these fit in to the front batter compartment.

If not may be a 2x 75 ah Century AGM physical size L 260 H210 W169 I am not sure if this smaller Amp Hour battery would be big enough.

Sorry if I have not worded things well in the size of the minkota and battery sizes.

I have sold my Trophy explorer 395 as thing progress I will up date things about the top ender I have left Soldiers Point and have come up the Manning Point have not fished here before went out to day caught nothing but had some jew fish culets and a bag of beach worms given to me this place is full of fisher people or in the old language fishman.

Ps will put some picture in on Manning Point my be there are other people interested in having a look :)

You need the bigger amp/hr batteries ...trust me

This is the latest state of the battery fitting debacle !! Barclays Marine has emailed Telwater and requested that the forwarded casting deck be extended and extra 200mm to put in three more hatches across the back of the raised platform/ casting deck.

My thoughts are they will not do that, or if they do I would have to mortgage the house to pay for the alteration.

So just to keep this topic alive lets hear what you think Telwaters reply will be and how much you think that would charge me to have them do it the extension.

There is a plane B !! or maybe this plane B and I am up to C,D, or even E I will even put a prize up to the winner a bottle of Carona with a slice of lime in it. That's what I drink at the blackwall ramp from time to timer. :mfr_lol:

I personally don't think they need a bigger front platform. They just need to design and weld the battery holder to size. In terms of cost, you have a contract with barkleys to have a battery mounted at the front. There should not be any further cost and stand your ground. Otherwise another dealer may be able to help you with a new boat, maybe huetts on this very site

I have a 2014 450 Top Ender fitted with the Yamaha 40 hp 4 stroke. It is a great boat and I am sure that you will be happy with your 481 Top Ender. If you have room I would go the bigger battery size for the Minn Kota. Mine is fitted with a 55 lb Minn Kota with a 100 ah battery. With big currents the battery is too small. Another option would be to locate the batteries for the electric at the back of the boat, (one on each side), rather than up front.

Problem solved Quintrex /Telwater are increasing the front casting platform by 200 mm and is 300mm high by doing this I will be able to fit 2 Century AGM 12 volt 140amp hour along with Cteck 24 volt 14 amp charger that be protected from moisture and put in to circuit via a marine Anderson plug the apparently they have done this in the past and I assume for the same reason as my self .
