piratesgold
Hey Guys, I believe there should be a new artificial reef being installed off Crookhaven/Shoalhaven, but all I can find is the fact that is was planned for October 2014. is this still happening? has it happened? http://www.southcoastregister.com.au/story/2263171/artificial-reef-for-shoalhaven-heads/
kyngfish
Still hasn't happened but I read the local paper a few months ago and talked to a guy in fisheries and it should be done before Xmas. They are currently building the concrete structures in Port Kembla. Also I was told that the artificial reefs in St Georges Basin took 1 month for the octopus's to come in and 6 months for algae, seaweed etc to be growing for baitfish and some reasonable fish. I think they were sending divers down every month for the first 6 months to see how things were going.
piratesgold
won't be worth fishing over Xmas if it's there then, it will 'smell' odd to the fish until its weathered in
kyngfish
I think I will wait until after Xmas. If I hear any reports I will post.

piratesgold
Reply to my enquiry Thanks for your query. The fabrication of the modules is currently underway, with the estimated deployment of the modules likely to occur in late January (pending satisfactory weather conditions for deployment). Regards, Nathan FADs & Artificial Reefs Program Manager.
kyngfish
That's a shame that they have delayed it but this means it may be right for winter snapper season. Thanks for the update.
