First fish on fly!

Recommended Posts

G'day raiders,

It was 10:30 and we had to check out of our apartment so dad came up with a brilliant idea that we should fish in little rivers and creeks the whole way back to port Stephens! So we had a quick stop at the largest tackle shop in Australia and headed down Coast! Wasn't that tackle shop heaven!

First stop was urunga which did not present any fish! The next stop was nambuka which also disappointed but the next spot definately didn't! We ended up in south west rocks where I chucked out a soft plastic on this random little pontoon that we found but got nothing! We then changed tactics and chucked in some unwaited bread on a normal rod and bang I was on to a nice 30cm bream!

I then decided to chuck out my new fly that I just bought and on my secomd cast yes I was onto my first fish! It was the most fun I've had in ages! Finally landed my first fish and it was another good bream but this one only at 27cm still a lot of fun on a fly rod and so stoked to land my first fish!

We ended up spending the rest of the day at that spot catching a lot of bream with various sizes !

Hope you enjoyed my post!

Awesome bro! I grew up with a fly rod, best fun I've ever had! Watching you cast at the social I got a lot of memories!

Stick with it! It's an amazing way to catch fish, wait til you hook a beast on it!

Great work mate, it's weird when you get your first.

27 cm of bream I.

That's a great start, you're on you way.

Some one should move this report to Saltwater Lure And Fly.

Well done.

Well done young fella! You haven't sold me on the fly yet. For your 10,000 casts, the return is not there yet. But your persistence is very impressive and has contributed to my empty wallet!

Congrats :)

Cheers scratchie!!!

Congrats champ on breakin the ice and a cracker spot to do it. The jetty your on is on back creek of south west rocks. Creek runs along side horse shoe bay caravan park. Very nice spot mate. Some good whiting over near those big ass jetties on a high tide throughout the sand bar

As a nice jester of appreciation, your dad should buy you that Stella 10,000 with an Ian miller t-curve that you were wishing for at the Hairtail social!

Well done.
