big Neil
Hi all, here's a few photos of my usual fishing place which may interest people who haven't fished the inland rivers. Now here's an offer you can't refuse. If any of you city slickers want to band together and have a trip out here in Dec /Jan, let me know and I'll put you on to some native fish species. Hope you enjoy the pics. Cheers, Neil

Cargo05
Fantastic photos again Neil. Very generous offer as well. Typical country hospitality. Hopefully the Bidgee will have water at a reasonable level all of the irrigation season, unlike 2015/16. Are they letting water down the river at present, or has the recent rain prolonged the start of watering?

Hopefully the Bidgee will have water at a reasonable level all of the irrigation season, unlike 2015/16. Are they letting water down the river at present, or has the recent rain prolonged the start of watering? G'day John. They have just started filling up the irrigation channels this week after the usual draining /cleaning out of the smaller channels. Still heaps of water in the river, running very fast and the colour of a chocolate milk shake. I haven't been fishing for 12 weeks (going insane) and only a week left before Cod season closure. Hoping it will drop and settle so I can go target some yellowbelly, but won't hold my breath. Like everywhere we've had lots more than average rainfall and the 2 dams are getting quite full as a result. Considering a trip to the south coast or Sydney mid September, depending on the weather. How's things your way? Cheers.
Blackfish
Love the photos, they remind me of a story Rod Harrison wrote, something like "In Pattersons Footsteps" great read it was. Old school stuff, in a simpler time. Thanks mate.

Cargo05
You have me intrigued Blackfish. The closest I could find was a poem by Martin Harrison titled “By The River”.
Blackfish
You have me intrigued Blackfish. The closest I could find was a poem by Martin Harrison titled “By The River”. Hey Cargo, it was a story in Modern Fishing called "In Banjos Footsteps" written by Rod Harrison. My mistake with the name as it was 6 years ago. Just a fishing article on fishing in the channel country. Of old fellas, isolation and mostly Yellowbelly, what they had done for many years, the simplicity of gear and the isolation to catch a iconic Australian fish. Great read it was. Cargo05
Sounds like a good article Blackfish, I am sorry I missed it. Got to love fishing in inland rivers for natives. We have spent many-a-day fishing the Murray and Lake Mulwala for Cod and Yellowbelly. Being on the water at daybreak and watching the world awake in those parts is specular, actually catching fish was a bonus. Great times. Neil’s offer to share his backyard is very generous. Rock&Beach
Super photos Neil. Long time since i have seen the Murray. Watched River Monsters last night and the guy was catching Sawfish 150 miles inland on the Fitzroy. Started the juices flowing again for summer. Rock&Beach
Hey Neil excuse my ignorance i said it was the Murray that is the Bidgee you live near. We could do with more rain to flush out the rivers get more feed going for the baitfish. That brings in the big fellas.
