MARINE RESCUE RAFFLE BOAT STOLEN

Marine Rescue Central Coast is in distress and well out-of-pocket following the brazen theft of the prize in its Annual Boat Raffle last Thursday night, 24 October 2013.

The prize boat was on display at the Kincumber Shopping Village in support of the raffle sales effort. It was stolen overnight. The thieves are recorded on the Centre’s CCTV system. The raffle is due to be drawn on Sunday 10 November.

The boat is a white painted 3.8m ANGLAPRO MR384 runabout with a blue boat cover. A 9.9HP black Suzuki outboard is fitted, and the boat is on a Dunbier Boat Trailer, registered number Y51283.

Anyone sighting the vessel or trailer should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Marine Rescue Central Coast 4325 7929. The volunteers need your help.

THat's a VERY low act! I hope the video of the crooks is plastered over all the media so that they are recognised by one & all as the low scum that they are.

Fingers crossed they get it back before the draw, in good nick (so to speak!)

Media Release

Stolen Marine Rescue raffle boat recovered

Brisbane Water police have recovered Marine Rescue Central Coast’s raffle prize boat, which was stolen on Thursday night.

Marine Rescue NSW Headquarters has already replaced the 3.8m runabout with a brand new Anglapro boat to ensure the unit can proceed as planned with the prize draw in the raffle, its major fundraising event for the year.

Unit Commander Patricia Fayers has welcomed the recovery of the original boat and arrival of the replacement vessel.

Brisbane Water Police Local Area Command had posted images of a man wanted in connection with the theft on its Facebook page, calling on people to come forward with information to help identify him. The post had 24,000 hits and 800 shares.

Police subsequently posted: “Around 1545hrs Monday the 28th of October 2013, following on-going investigations, investigators attached to the Brisbane Water Anti Theft Unit and Operation Saber executed a search warrant at a residential address in Kincumber.

“During that warrant Police seized the boat, the motor (of) which had been removed and a number of items related to the raffle of the boat for Marine Rescue NSW which were still inside the boat.

“Police will contend that a number of other items linked to the theft of the boat were located within the property.” Police enquiries are continuing.

UC Fayers thanked all those who had assisted police with their investigations, as well as the unit’s local supporters and well-wishers who had rallied around members after news of the theft broke.

The raffle prize draw will go ahead as scheduled at 3pm on Sunday, November 10 at the Brisbane Water Oyster Festival at Ettalong Beach. Tickets will be on sale again this weekend at Bunnings in West Gosford; outside IGA at Umina on November 7 to 9; and at the Oyster Festival on November 10.
