Nelson Bay fish from the rocks (5x fish. Id'd now)

Question

Hi raiders

I went for a little rock fishing session at Boat Harbour and managed to catch a few different fish. I was just wondering if anyone knows what these are? I released them all after I took the photos, sort of like a little library of the fish I catch. Had a good time fighting these guys🎣

First is a Female Crimson Banded Wrasse

Second is a Male Crimson Banded Wrasse

Third is a Silver Drummer

Fourth is a Eastern Kelp Fish

Good on you returning them to the water when unsure of what they were.:)

Thank you.

I thought the first two were some kind of Wrasse. Haven't come across a kelp fish before👍

I declare the second fish be renamed to Rock n Roll Mohawk fish.

Seriously though, what lovely colours his fins are! Why is it that the males are always prettier than the females?!

If you are looking for Identification of fish in here you have defiantly gone about it the right way. Good quality close ups ALWAYS help. (some times from a few angles).

As for "Haven't come across a kelp fish before" if you keep up rock fishing -- you will wish you never had!
