try keeping your rod tip near the water the drag of line in the water keeps pressure on your line..if you are using braid it makes it harder to stop the fish from throwin the hooks as there is no stretch in the line...rick

Thanks for the tip

I'll try that next time

I did lose a few when they jumped. It usually happens when using trebles

If I hook up when using plastics or single hook lures. The salmon rarely throw the hook

I use a canon 70d with a rode microphone, I also use a gopro hero 4 black

For editing I use a couple programs including after effects, premier pro and Vegas pro

Thanks mate,

I've been meaning to get a gopro as well. It records really good footage.

Probably get the GoPro 6 now that its out

Nah not a uni project

I love making videos and love fishing, so I thought why not combine the two.

Most of the fishing YouTube videos are just using a GoPro on their head with some background music.

They don't talk about how they caught the fish or what they are trying to do.

I thought if I was going to make a video, might as well do it properly

Released all except for one. They taste okay when bled and cleaned straight away and eaten fresh

How do you cook it?

Awesome post mate, I've heard the salmon are being quite finicky at the moment.

Cheers for the great read and for posting up the video. I'll have a watch a bit later so I can catch the whole thing.

Nice work!

Nice post mate, good video. Those salmon are so much fun on light gear, hooked one a balmoral on friday while fishing for pike but gave a run and shook the hook out. Still so much fun tho just to feel the runs.

Quality report! Fantastic to share this - thank you!!

If I could add one suggestion, it would be to approach the school with some care, which most people do. Cut the engine 40-50 meters away and let the wind or tide carry you into the school........nothing worse than over-excited anglers charging the school then wondering why it disappeared.

Honestly I don't cook the fish.

I just catch and fillet.

Generally we smoke it or mum marinates it and oven bakes it. Actually tastes all right

They do give you a run for your money when using light gear. Shame the hooks pulled

Thanks for the tip mate, also glad you enjoyed the read

Normally that is what I do when they are being really Finicky. But this time they did not care what was in front of them, they were busting up like crazy. A few boats and kayakers actually did drive over the schools, but the bust just got bigger.

I'll be sure to keep that in mind next time though :)

Great video. Thanks guys. It felt like being out there with you. Absolutely my favourite type of fishing, chasing the bust ups on light gear.

Looking forward to the next video....
