  1. I read a thread in Fishraider a long while back about someone keeping yakkas in his fish tank. From memory, it lasted a LONG while before he finally got rid of them. Cant seem to find it right now though... Anyone have the know how/time to search?
  2. Hi and to Fishraider. Im a newbie as well so not the best person to help you out but heres a few links that I think you might find interesting: Fishing articles and How tos: http://www.fishraider.com.au/fishing-articles.php Theres also another thread running in this section about newbies fishing in the Eastern suburbs. Have a read as there are some spots and suggestions in there. http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=45898 Theres some news that Fishraider will soon be having a "adopt a newbie" program type of thing which I think would be good to keep a look out for as well.
  3. What about if I take a "banana boat" on board? A) I wont catch any fish that day B ) I dont get sunburnt C) I burst off into that annoying Banana boat jingle
  4. Good stuff Bangus Snr n Jnr. You guys are cleaning up Avoca rocks!!
  5. I have been checked once on the Parra river. Not sure if I should say lucky for me or unlucky cos I didnt catch anything so there was nothing to check apart from the licence. They did bust a few guys with undersize fish near me though. So at least thats 1 down.
  6. I've got a Force 10 Couldnt afford an Alvey So far, its worked OK so not complaining...

    Help

Hi there... If you have no software to resize it, and cant install anything on the school computer, then I would suggest using the simplest of programs.... Paint. 1 - Open the Image in Paint 2 - Select Stretch/Skew from the menu. 3 - In the Horizontal/Vertical Scaling area, type in the % value you want to scale the image down to. E.g. 60% (for both vertical and horizontal) 4 - Save the image. (I like to choose Save-As as this doesnt overwrite the original image) Upload away..... Hope to read some fishing reports with pics from you shortly. Fish light, hold tight.. Tevoro.
  8. I'll join this year although I havent caught anything bigger than 30cms lately. But $20 for a brag mat and cap + the excuse to go out and fish for a good cause is more than worth it.
  9. I've found that chicken Breast fillet or peeled prawns are usually pretty good for me. I've also got them on squid strips and lately, (just purchased a bait pump) nippers have also been great for me. However, I still have to fight my way through all the pickers for all of the above baits. Hmm.. wonder if there is such a thing as scoring a keeper sized bream without going through the pickers...
  10. Hi Seriola! I was fishing at Dolls Point area with my sister as well. Pretty much just pumped yabbies from around the area and fished in the same area. Managed to get a few undersized flatties and one legal bream. Was also reeling in a decent sized whiting when it spat out the hook about 1.5 m away from me! Send us a PM if you going out that way next weekend and interested in some company whilst fishing. Cheers mate!
  11. Happy New Yak, sorry Year Roberta! Hope you have a good one.
  12. Woah... mullet to crab?!?!?! Now thats an upgrade! Where abouts did u go for that beauty?
  13. Hey Patchy... If youre just fishing for the fun of it, you could try Cabarita Bay, or Hen & Chicken Bay, (go to the end of Burwood road) Thats a good place to practice soft plastics etc. Otherwise, go towards Botany Bay, there are heaps of spots around there from the beaches off San Souci to the airport runways, to La Perouse areas. Unfortunately, like beginner said, there are lots of pickers and there are also lots of rubbish left over by some irresponsible people. Hope you get some!
  14. LOL.... Fish"raider" indeed.... You sure raided Adelaide of their squids! Good stuff mate!
  15. Top post zephi........ talk abt commitment! awesome video too....
  16. +1! Im in the same boat. Landbased, dont catch much (or anything) worth mentioning in the forum but I keep going at it because I enjoy being out there.
  17. +1 Only do carp fishing if youre intending to lend ahelping hand to our local species. Other than that, take him fishing/squdding at La Perouse, tell him that he is fishing from the spot where Tom Cruise got chased by a helicopter in MI2. Or Blues Point where he has a great view of the Sydney Harbour (and might even land a Kingy) Clovelly/Coogee area has some pretty decent rock fishing areas but can be a tad dangerous if youre not careful.
  18. Looks good! Camera doesnt quite fit in the picture though
  19. I've heard of raiders (and non raiders) pumping yabbies for bait but I've got no idea how to do it or where to do it so I cant say. Would love to find out from someone how this is done though.. Other than that, you could always buy fresh bait from some of the tackle shops. It will cost you a fortune though!
  20. Got a few undersize breams near Dolls Point. Only 1 keeper bream to take home. Bites were sure hard to come by.
  21. Good stuff Seriola! Nothing like finding your "own" spot for a quick flick!
  22. Thanks for putting in the effort, Groper. I suspect if they do do something about the situation, they will need to test some samples and test the water.
  23. Hi all... A few raiders attended the first carp out in Autumn, didnt catch much though. Alot of the people just threw whole loaves of bread into the river - ended up feeding more food to the carp than catching them. You will be restricted to a small section of the river only so not much chance of actually catching anything I reckon. Last time there was music, dances and jumping castles to keep the kids occupied. Never the less, I'll still go!
