  1. And yet my beloved Dragons just crashed and burned to the Rabbits ...
  2. What a report.... damn Im jealous!!!
  3. Hi all, I did end up trying for Blackies yesterday out at Botany, but didnt manage to witness a single down (ah well, thats fishing for you) Maybe I was fishing in the wrong spots? I still need to learn how to identify which ones are luderick areas. Having said that though, it was still an enjoyable experience out in the sun. Thanks for all the tips, fellow raiders.
  4. G'day flattie, When do you intend to head out? I wouldnt mind joining you. I'm also a novice at Blackfishing though.
  5. Top report Peter S!!! And awesome photos to boot! Wish I enjoyed my weekend fishing
  6. Good catch Bangus! Squid from the Jeffrey St wharf again?
  7. I'd like to come as well please. I'm as amateur as they come and will be landbased. Pardon my naive question but what happens at a FR social?
  8. Thanks Roberta, Had a good read of your article. Hopefully I'll be able to make it out this weekend to give Blackfishing a go.
  9. Hi there raiders, All those blackfishing reports is making me itch to try blackfishing as well. Anyone heading out for a trip round about the harbour this weekend? If so, do you mind a novice tagging along to pick up some tips of the trade? I dont have blackfishing gear so would probably just be watching and learning.

    Jb Squid

Woah... nice haul of squids mate! So you were planning on going to La Perouse and ended up in Jervis Bay?!?! Thats a fair distance in between mate!
  11. Yeah, thats it! What a ugly looking critter! According to a few posters, they said it doesnt harm the eating qualities of the fish. But hey, it freaked me out so no way am I eating that jacket!
  12. G'day raiders, I made use of the sunny weekend by going down to the Spit bridge for a fish. All we seemed to hook up were leather jackets and by the looks of the fishos around us, thats what they were catching as well. Anyways, after opening one of the particularly "fat" jackets at home, I found some ugly looking parasite living in its gut! That freaked me out to no end! It looked like a cockroach, except it was milk white in color, with short legs, sort of tear dropped shape, and bigger than a 50c piece. (It reminded me of those creatures in Dan Brown's novel Deception Point) I suspect this parasite burrowed itself into the LJ's stomach and made a home in there. Question is: Any idea what it is? And should I have eaten that fish? Sorry fellows, I dont have a photo of the parasite but I'll try to post a photo of the LJ with its stomach buldging out, I got rid of the fish and parasite quick smart!
  13. Hahaha... good catch. At least its a bite!
  14. Good stuff!!! Were u landbased? Bet u didnt expect these many responses from your post!
  15. Good work Zephi. Not to mention braving the cold to go out and fish. Well done indeed.
  16. From my limited experiences of fishing, sadly, I've found that there is no such thing as a guaranteed fish. Pier 2 inSydney can be a good spot but tends to get overcrowded. Any of the ferry wharves at night seem to be good as well.
  17. Top report Slinky!!! Awesome pics.. What a trip! So jealous now
  18. The highlighted bit seem to happen alot to me I dont understand why they would want to do that... Once I got the 1 finger salute when I told the guys on the boat that they're on my burley trail and my line was actually right BELOW where they've decided to park their boat!
  19. You'd be surprised how many times I've seen people keep undersized fish, some smaller than the size of a palm. But due to the rules of the forum, I dont mention them.
  20. Its funny this post got put up this weekend. I bought a pack on Saturday in blood red colour and tried it over the weeekend. Only managed some undersized bream and undersized whiting. I was using it as a bait, rather than the conventional SP cast and retrieve.
  21. Now THIS is a fishing report!!! Good stuff slinky!! (And JewHunter!)
  22. Hey Bangus, I was squidding at the Jefferey st wharf tonight with my sister. You mentioned that you were going to Kissing Point again, hope you got something!
  23. This is an awesome thread!! A massive thanks to all the contributors with all those words of advice!
