  2. Awesome catch Simmo!!! Like I said in another thread, your reports are just getting better and better.... Would love to meet ya for a session to steal some tricks off ya! haha
  3. Are you landbased? Would you mind sharing locations for squid in Botany Bay if you are? Its alright if you dont though
  4. You drew that?!?!?! Damn!! Awesome! Not to mention helpful.

Good stuff Simmo!!! Youre getting better with every one of your reports! If youre heading out again next weekend, I'm interested in tagging along for the ride!
  6. Where abouts at the Spit bridge? North side, or south side where the boats are moored? I'm landbased. I went at night, at about 8pm. Low tide, brightish moon though.
  7. G'day Raiders! (First fishing report.. please bear with me) I've often read that catching squid is a really enjoyable experience, read and tried to do exactly what Slinkymalinky wrote about squiding And more recently, inspired by a thread started by Penguin on Botany Celephods, I decided to get some squid jigs and drag a mate out, brave the cold, and head to the North side of the Harbour bridge. Both of us being new fishos, we had no idea what to expect! After 20 minutes of casting and retrieving without any takes, I must admit interest was waning. Just as we were about to give up, we managed 2 decent hookups. and Did a salt and pepper on them.. oh happy times.. Would love it if the experts out there could provide some other spots to squid from! Edit: Added pics, thanks monch.
  8. Not sure but I read somewhere that if theres no white water wash, theres no drummer? But its dangerous rock fishing in this kind of weather
  9. Ohhh boy.... you sure are stuffed now!!
  10. Nice squids!!! Can I ask a stupid question? How do you detach the squid from the jig once they are caught? I got the day off work tomorrow. Might give squid jigging a go. Only started fishing a few months ago and absolutely loving it!
  11. Great stuff Greg.... Awesome time well spent together! Whereabouts in the Parra river may I ask?
  12. And here I was thinking our Winter was too cold for fishing! Awesome catches in the freezing cold!
  13. Believe it or not, this is the first time I've seen a pic of a drummer! Whats the cunjee thats used to catch them?
  14. No luck for me and the little cousins... And the rest of the fishos around there!! I got there for the afternoon session but by then, there was heaps of bread, corn etc floating in the river. The whole afternoon I was there, no one caught anything. SO looks like the Parra carp out failed BUT... did score some free fishing line and a pair of gloves.. Edit: Land based, what did u guys end up doing with the fish??!?! Edit: I'm now a bream... my 50th post! Woohoo!
  15. Ive signed up for the afternoon session. Was hoping to make the morning session but the little ones got soccer. Hopefully you morning fellows arent going to clean out all the fish before 1pm
  16. I'd try that carp fishing comp that FlightManager suggested. I've registered. Hopefully can pick up some tips from the fishos there. http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=40367
  17. JH, That is the best backyard. EVER. Those water front mansions down Sydney way have nothing on yours. Now all you need is a small boat ramp for your yak and youre set.
  18. Have never caught a carp before.. and never fished the parra river due to the polutants there. Anyways, will be good to take the little cousins for a weekend fishing. Probably try my luck. Are carps good table fish? Is it recommended to eat them from Parra river?
  19. Im fishing there this weekend as well. Probably Saturday. Let me know if youre interested. (land based)
  20. Thats an AWESOME prize! Good stuff!
  21. Catch the train to the city (Circular Quay) and walk from there to Pier 2? Or fish under the bridge? Problem would be trying to take the fish back on the train!
  22. Dead set, mate. He either wanted your spot or hes just a grumpy old man who thinks he knows it all! Unfortunately, Ive seen some of those around as well... * No more than 4 rods or lines to be used or set by any one person at any one time. - Nope * No more than 3 hooks or 3 gangs of hooks attached per line (a gang of hooks should have no more than 5 hooks). - Nope * One line may have 6 single hooks with lure attached to be used by the method of hand jigging only. - Nope * No more than 3 treble hooks attached to a lure. - Nope * Jagging is illegal (hooking, or attempting to hook, fish other than through the mouth). - Possibly thinking that you were trying to jag a fish!

  24. Mate that was a massive lizard!! Congrats on the prize... if that was the 2nd best, I wonder how big the 1st prize winner was!!!
