  1. Great work mate, that's awesome. The most exciting time of year for me is now as the Kingies start to come on.
  2. Hi All I haven't been on this site for a while but thought I'd start again with a quick report. I went for a nipper pumping session with a mate and his 3 young boys - got quite a few of them, the kids had an absolute ball, and then we thought we'd see if we can convert the nippers into fish. Fished the relatively low tide off the sand at Dolls Point - apart from one fish in the first 2 minutes I didn't manage any more and promptly packed it up. But seeing as it was a personal best whiting of 44cm I'm not complaining - and the youngsters loved it, fishaholics in the making haha. Cheers. Paul
  3. If you're keen on hitting the harbour, and limited by train travel, I'd suggest catching a train to Milson's Point and fishing the north side under and around the harbour bridge. I've had some good results from Blues Point and the likes.
  4. Hi Mate I'm heading to Avoca for a week from Boxing day with the family and some friends. I'm planning a serious assault on the Jewies etc from the surf, was wondering if you have nay pointers you can PM me about? Also, do you know whether the rocks at the south end (or north end for that matter) are the sort of place a novice rock fisherman should be even attempting? Any knowledge, from anyone, would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Paul
  5. That's avery nice haul there mate, well done. Good luck in Greece.
  6. Hi Guys, I fish a fair bit with Koolio and was wondering whether filleted sambo's (seeing as I hate their taste) would work as a good bait on jewies? Any feedback would be great. Cheers Paul
  7. So is it safe to assume LBG gear is similar, if not the same, as boat based game fishing gear?
  8. I've gotten my hands on a Shimano Beastmaster 12', suitable for spin reel, what reel would you guys recommend? The TLD25 would be great but I need an eggbeater, and the TLD is out of my price range anyway. Unless any fishraider members happen to have an old one they're looking to flog off cheap...haha
  9. Mate, ideally ALL of the above. I've had a lot of land based success catching things like bream, flatties etc from wharfs and so on. Just want to get into something bigger, bit more of a fight. Any pelagic would be fantastic, even smaller models that I have to throw back in, just something to enjoy a bit of a fight. Thanks. Paul
  10. Judging by the massive number of responses I AM dreaming with the budget I've got to work with. Ah well
  11. So is that a yes to red being the better colour line to fish with???
  12. Hi All I've been fishing for yers but, just recently, I've decided to get into LBG. A mate of mine does a fair bit of it on the Central Coast, and he's got me hooked. It's about time I got myself some suitable gear, which is the reason for this post: I'm unfortunately ona tight budget and needed to know what are some good, entry level rod/reel combos (prefer OH) for LBG? My budget is..... now, don't laugh..... around the $150-200 mark. Before you roll off your seat laughing I'm also considering pre-loved equipment as a fallback. Any suggestions, ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Regards Paul
  13. Hi All I've been doing a fair bit of reading about different types of fishing lines out there, as a preliminary step to upgrading the mono line on a few of my rods (mainly beach and rock outfits). I've read somewhere that different coloured lines have varying visibility characteristics in the water, and at differing depths, with RED apparently being the one that 'disappears' quickest and in the shallowest water. Does anyone have any informaiton about this - I hear different things from different people and sources (mainly online) and thought I'd get a straight answer on here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Paul.
  14. I'm interested in the same boat hire for the southern suburbs (botany bay or around there). PM me if anyone knows of a place where I can hire a boat and possibly keep iot overnight. Also, Raiderfish, can you PM me the info you received from fellow raiders to this post please.
  15. Hi All I'm into surf fishing and have been using spinning reels for as long as I can remember. I've been reading a lot about the benefits of using an overhead reel, especially in the surf, but practiced about a million time with a mates combo last time we were out there - could not avoid the birds nests. Is there a technique or somethign I should be doing differently? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Paul
