  1. Marty Tell me you got it all on camera....
  2. Hi terms On Saturday We ended up bagging out on gemfish at browns. We then started cubing and after about 20 minutes we had 2 makos circling the boat. The only bait we had was the smallest gemfish of 4kg. I quickly rigged it on the shark rig and tossed it out and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz the reel screamed and suddenly stopped and somehow the mono wind on frayed. The wire trace was about 2.5 metres long and the shark was at least that so I guess the tail must have whipped it while smashing the bait. The water temp was only 19.5 and the SST charts showed no temp breaks within our reach so we didnt hang around much longer. We heared of one boat hooking up to a large yellowfin to only have it smashed by a moko.
  3. Hi Mike I'll be on 21 and the call sign is CODA. If we manage any fin I'll give you a call. Jerry

  6. Some people say "its not traditional recreational fishing using electric reels". What about GPS's,Sounders,etc.. Maybe we should give fishing all away.

  8. I use round galvanised tube about 30mm diametre cut into i50mm to 200mm lengths and then filled with lead. The gal tube you can find almost anywere and the lead you can buy from scrap yards at about $2.50 per kilo. You need 1 to 2 kilos per weight and they hit the bottom in half the time of steel.
  9. Sounds like your the only one to get anything in the past week. Good stuff and keep the reports comming>
  10. Hey anyone heading out Sunday? Weather is looking O.k and the wind I guess has pushed nice water of upto 22.5 degrees up to the shelf from what I can see. Is anyone heading out Sunday and if so do you think there's a chance for stripe marlin as well as tuna?
  11. Im a subscriber to seasurface.com, Its the most detailed sst site and cost about $220 per year.
  12. Anybody going in search of fin this weekend? Looks like a good temp break just south of us. I checked the charts and it rises from 18.4 to 20.6.
  13. Headed down to bermagui for yellowfin and found the water temp reaching a maximum of 18.6 deg. Realising this the only fishing to be had over the shelf was for makos. We cubed and chummed for 2hours and the live yellowtail goes of on 15kg outfit with an 80lb jinkai leader. about 40 min later we ended up with a 80kg plus mako. We also fished the 40m mark for 20 flathead and the same in gummys.
  14. We use a miya epoch x9 or x8 no smaller than that and bent butt rods between 37kg & 60kg.
  15. abolutely I think there called silver dory
