  1. jamie s where you been catching the bronzies at cronulla?
  2. rods for sale nitro godzilla spin, abu veritas 7' 2-4kg and a starlo stix tournament 2-4

  3. mate it depends are you talking about the depot beach launch or north durras or south durras launch depot beach is a tough option in any condition and is at most recommended for zodiacs north durras boat ramp has long since seen its best days and is now more a clay track than a boat ramp south durras is a far better ramp leading down from a high quality caravan park it is still relatively well maintained however all of this may be useless as when i spoke to mates down there and when i was there bout 8 months ago the lake was closed. any other questions feel free to give us a holla as im down there generally 2-3 times a year a nice spot very quiet for 11 months of the year.
  4. fin nor 50lb spin jig stick shimano spheros 8 or 12 thousand 50lb tuna terror or platypus jig braid
  5. wanna fish ios right 130lb is the line class the drag on it is 36kg but as someone has already said good luck holding onto it with that pressure on it rod wise id be looking at atleast a tcurve gt at the minimum although i am seeing and liking some of the xzoga rods which can be landed here in aus for around 220 because of the exchange rate
  6. most of what it will be throwing is things like rebel poppers and rebel crawlers and smaller r2s bubble pops and baby vibs it needs to be fairly stiff as even with the 2lb line i want the abbility to glide the fish out of snages rather than the medalist which has way to much give its interesting that u bring that up iceman its something ive been considering the other thing im looking at is going for something heavier so thats what hes running it on im considering the 1-2 kg nitro as an option but 500 for my second string rod well i dunno but i am considering using a 2-4kg starlo stick as my second choice option just unsure how it would match up to a 1000 luvias or 1000 twinpower arc finesse which is what ill run on it
  7. the bottom red one is one of my favoruite ones for bream on flats where as the second one is one of my favourite colourz in the red lure but have no exp with the bigger 2
  8. sorry i figured most people would click a 1-2 or 1-3kg stick is gonna be a bream gear yes the stradic is a lot cheaper and im looking at it as an option however im leaning toward the arc finesse twinpower as it is designed for fishing lines such as 2lb fluro and 4lb varivas casting and the supreme is to soft i want something that is fairly stiff preferably without having to go for a custom built ian miller or the like ive at the presnet got 1-3 and 2-4 kg sticks coming out my ears but i need sumthing extremely stiff in that range and unfortunately custom built or bright orange carrot stick seem the go
  9. what no body has an oppinion on what gear to look at when theres a budget of 1500 on the table
  10. there is now a new front runner that isnt gonna set me back 900 for the reel that being the twinpower ar-c finesse 1000 any thoughts
  11. OK guys well here is the set of questions I am in need of advice on: An extremely stiff 1-2kg or 1-3kg rod it needs to be extremely stiff and preferably between 6'-6'6" at the moment i am looking at the carrot sticks in the 2-6lb but it is fairly thick for such a light rod money is not so much an issue will look at spending up to 350 dollars i am greatly of the opinion buy good buy once the next question is i am looking for a small spooled ultra finesse reel i am currently looking at daiwa steez 2004 but am open to suggestions i will be running 2lb fluorocarbon straight through any other idea on the reels as a guide I'm working off a reel that holds less than 120m of 4lb finally your top 3 lures atm this question is more just of curiosity and as a bit of a question of opinion my top 3 would be rebel crawler in orange and green bass days crystal popper in the crystal colour rmg scorpion 35 in black and silver with red stripes anyway guys opinions away
  12. hey man looks like a really nice combo man is it the stradic normal or the new c14 and how much were u looking at for the saltist
  13. sunline have just released a range of leaders designed for squiding definately worth a look at ive had no isssues with them so far
  14. hey man i can give u an idea of some lures with which to chase these awesome fish hunting big jew (15+kg) on hardbodys is not an easy task however if you know where big jew are it can be made alot easier here is a list of the lures id start with (ones ive had success with) halco tremblers Halco R.M.G. Scorpion 125 Crazy Deep Halco Laser Pro 190 Deep 2.5 Meter Plus Halco Poltergeist 80 Bomber 17A/26A Mackerel Mauler 18cm(shallow/deep diver) Rob Gaden Classic Barra 12cm Jazz Deka Bokun 90(blade)
  15. played with them love them and the thing is theyve been out iin japan for 2 or 3 years now and alot of the japanese jigging guys rave about them
  16. each to their own i guess but will guarantee the pflueger rods are some oif the best ive ever looked at or owned i have an old style trion in a 3-6 and it smashes everything i need it to with ease and hopefully will get into some more kings and reds on it soon. however on the point u raised in the pfleuger range id suggest the president they both come in around the 199 mark and the president in my oppinion is a far superior blank its got a nice tip lightweight and got the guts down low to really let the fish know your there if you need to thats just some food for thought
  17. nothing new guys chipping norton lakes ive seen photos of em caught on jew gear so go figure parramata weir ive seen em caught from there and these were sharks that were taking line from a tld 20 so yeah they will survive anywhere good to see that the smh has already strted the scare campaign for summer 2009
  18. to me i dont think theyre that bad when kept seperate to the rest of your sp's i know its yet more money to spend on fishing tackle but one of those lil bag things that keep all of your zip lock bags in zip lock bags....best thing ive ever done as far as those stinky lil buggers go
  19. yeah the backbone elite is not a bad option although id prolly go with a stroker option and skip the roller tip as on the backbones ive heard of them going very quickly ummm on a side not youve got the option of for not alot more going live fibre in sumthing 10-15kg which will be a huge stgep up from the backbone
  20. ok jdi most of my experience off the stones is to do with pigs but ive done a fair share on groper as well my suggestion u wont get him out at that size ive seen guys using tiagra 30s with 6foot stoker get done hahahah but if ur serious about getting this bad boy out of there or any groper out of ne hole and trust me if theres one there there will be more u will need..... A decent fibreglass or supergraph rod i say this because graphite will shatter under the load you have to keep your rod tip high when you hook up and this cant be done with graphite supergraph and fibreglass are yiour option....if your going fibreglass something 7wrap or higher is my suggestion i npersonally use a 9' 9wrap butterworth rod the shorter rod means i stop the fish alot quicker and a 9w fibreglass rod has some stopping power...supergraph well ur looking at needing something thats rated round the 40-50lb mark this should do the job rod wise Reel wise im not sure if youve used alverys before but they are a good ioption for fishing off the rocks simple, tough and the drag is calle ur hand stopping the spool it pretty much turns ur rod into a winch...i use a 7inch alvey spooled with 50lb platypus lostretch monofilament mono off the rocks for big pigs and groper only way to go the shock to the line will pop braid clean offf if your planning on using a spinning reel good luck i hope for your sake you have sumthing high like a 14000 - 20000 size reel thats pulling some serious kilos of drag and ur still gonna struggle you dont have to worry bout line capacity if youre gonna get this fish the fight will be over in 30 secs to a minute he willhave done u or u will have done him it really is that damn simple hookwise you prolly wanna be using a 1/0 or 2/0 double strength hook i use gamaskatsu cos i have faith in their holoks for this stuff however black magic and mustad also are good option but it has to be doub le strength these guys bust up urchins and crabs for a feed they will bust hooks rig is very simple small ball sinker just enuff to be able to cast if you can go unweighted even better it gives are more natural wash berley is a good option my personal mixture is bread sand and water mixed in a bucket and burley up every so often baits red rock crab are my personal favourite but ne crab will do sea urchins i love as a bait ummm ab gut which is banned atm from memory umm chicken gut prawns and even the burkley soft plastic crabs ive got hits on before.. I hope this has been a help to you and i hope you get and at least give a good account of yourself bear in mind this guy will go hard he will hurt u u will prolly want a belt on so you can busy the rod hard intoyou for leverage and this rod will have to be your hands on rod cos he will sned ur rod to the bottom so quick if you let it go...all the best tight lines and lemme know how you go
  21. I fish a 14000 saragosa nd these badboys feel alot heavieri could be wrong but they feel way heavier nd are a lil out of baqlance on a shorter rod its up to u at the ed of the day mechanically they arevery solid but if it feels good do it
  22. yeh the twinpowers max drag is 22 but in practice when tested we tested it closer to 18 ive seen 14000 saragosa test at 21 ive also seen the sragosas stajnnd up to big hoodlums in enzed as well as pull some big gts up north mate tbh i love the twinpowers i have 4 of them and would trust them in any size but id save the $$$ and then pump it into a twinnie else where along the line or if your gonna spend the money on a twinpower look at a saltiga or a stella
  23. ive had a play around with them and ill put it this way i hope youve been to the gym they are a serious unit weighing in at around 2.5 kg they are a goood 750gt heavier than the comparative size stella although anyone who knows anything about the fin nor brand knows that the reels they produce are huge...there largest overhead is a bucked with a handle on it it weighs in a 9.9lb and holds 1200yds of 130lb braid so it is a huge unit..however back to the spinning reel if you like it and you can handle the weight do it the only thing id suggest is possibly a saragosa but if you need the cappaacity and 27kg drag go the fin nor they are a good brand with good history and from what i can tell a very solid unit
  24. mate i absolutely love the twinpower reels every single one of them especially the japanes version of last years however for a jigging combo my suggestion would be a saragosa theyll do the job and thne bigger models are pulling 20kg of drag
  25. what are u looking to be doing with the outfit if the majority of it is to be trolling id go with mono tbh u need a really absorbent shock leader and a fair bit of it as braid has a habit of pulling hooks and baits strtait from the fishes mouth due to the fact that there is literally no give....something like platypus lo-stretch has 12% of the stretch of regular mono and a fairly thin diameter in comparison to most other mono lines also you can good 1000m or 500m spools on another note i would also question the need to load up on 80lb aparently as ive been told it could be wrong but the numbering system on the shimano overhead reels refers to the pound rating of the line that should be run on a reel...or it could be thats just how these guys spol there reels.. tiagra 50 24kg line tld 25 12-15kg line this is just food for thought Also a fish thats gonna spool a reel will spool a reel regardless of what ur fishing...and assuming ur not fishing of a huge boat ur gonna have to up anchor and chase neways... Im not saying that a 30 or 50 2 speed isnt a better option u me and the fence post no it is however a tld25 will do to be goin on with
