    Jury Duty

It would be interesting the see how court proceedings work, but not if it's going to cost me. IMO the guy and girls who really pay their civic duty are the SES and the volunteer fire fighter.... Not people who are summonsed to jury duty. There is so much more for a person to lose who has a gross income of $300k and is self employed, compared to someone earning $50k with an employer who is required to continue to pay wages while their employee attends jury duty. A fair system for compensation would be where you provide your last income tax return and they pay you a pro-rater amount based on what you made the previous year.... If you're unemployed ... Tough, you get zip. Mick.

    Berowa

Best bait session: about 10 years ago in chocolate milk coloured water we got 4 big Bream 48.5cm, 2 x 41cm, and a 39cm specimen and a 55cm soapie, all in an hour. Hawkesbury prawns and stipes on tailor was the bait. We've caught around 100 soapies there, some as small as 25cm. Mick

    Jury Duty

I phoned up and spoke to a court service officer, and explained my situation. She said that I can show cause for why I need an exemption. I need all the work opportunity that I can get. She also said that they current have a 25 week trial going. Mick

    Jury Duty

Yeah I agree, I'm all for it, and I'll probably enjoy it, I find legal matters interesting. The only concern is that if I'm required to take weeks and weeks off work without pay. I just can't do that now that we have only one income, a baby on the way, and a big mortgage. We'll see. Mick

    Jury Duty

I hope being self employed with a dependent wife and baby will be enough to get out of it. Mick.

    Jury Duty

I just received a letter from the Sheriffs office (nearly shat my self, thinking I was being sued for something). Notice of inclusion on the July Roll for the next 12 months. I'm actually looking forward to it but will apply for an exemption if they predict a lengthy trial due to work. Anyone done it before? Mick
  7. Thanks mate, great place to get away. Chippo/Georges soon, my boat or your boat, doesn't matter. Mick
  8. Once you learn it, you'll have the nicest looking flattie fillets at the cleaning tables. Fillet from head to tail along the bone, you'll end up with two nice fillets. With a sharp knife cut a little tag end of skin at the end of the fillet closest to where the head was, then push your thumb between the meat and skin while peeling the skin back. Careful not to break the fillet in half. Mick
  9. I've fished that area for years, and that would surprise me too. Good spots around there for jewies mate. Mick
  10. Sure is a nice spot, I reckon it's gonna really fire this Summer, can't wait. Mick
  11. Thanks mate. It sure can be a tough place to fish. We were actually chasing yella, the cod were the by-catch. Looking forward to the next time we're there. Mick
  12. Re Etec: Those there are fighting words.... let the war games begin BTW Cracker rig mate, love to own a boat like that! Mick

    New Tow Vehicle

Thanks mate, I knew what I wanted, and doing it straight up keeps Holden happy with warranty issues, as they prepared it with ARB, not more expensive compared to me dealing with ARB myself. There are a few locked Dmax's and Colorado's going around, but you're right not too many. The new American style Colorado will never sit in my driveway, I'm just glad I own one of the last Isuzu made ones. I'm not gonna bash the Hilux's but you're right it's a badge, and that 2250kg towing capacity is a joke (good luck towing a 2.5ton van), not to mention aircon is a non standard option, way too pricey for what you get, at the end of the day it's a IFS duel cab, with no better reliability that the Rodeo/Dmax/Colorado. That said they're nice but too pricey. Cheers mate. You won't go wrong with a Dmax or Colorado (same car, different body) Look.. a cars a car, you've gotta go with what you like, Holden have some fantastic deals, and the bang for the buck is incredible. New Tow Vehicle

Pumped about my new car. I needed a vehicle to pull a boat, hold a kayak, take two Labradors in the back, a baby seat, hold all the camping gear, was good on fuel... and take me to those sneaky 4x4 only fishing spot. Holden Colorado LXR 4x4 Duel Cab 3ltr turbo diesel auto was the answer. The Isuzu 4JJ1 motor was what lead me buy it, top motor, good for half a million kms. Sick of manual cars, and now the Mrs can drive my car. Cruise and bluetooth work well, and overall very happy with the car. ARB installed a Safari Snorkle, a heavy duty air compressor, canopy, roof racks, side rail side steps, rear step tow bar, deluxe winch bar, fog and spot lights, under body bash plates, 2inch OME suspension lift, and my favourite front and back air lockers. Muddies, a winch, UHF, Scangauge, and a big trans cooler won't be too far away. Anyone else run a Colorado or a Dmax? Mick
  15. Another top session mate, need to get down there but I'm short on time
  16. That's fine mate, there's always next time in fishing. Late October Joey, I've already teed it up with the mother in-law to stay with the Mrs and our new born while I'm away for a weekend. The mother in-law is excited about the idea, so I can't let her down. We we're original going to enter the yella comp in Oct, but I'd we'd much prefer relaxing social fishing... We usual catch more that way. I can picture it in your signature Joey....... Murray Cod 112cm. Golden Perch 68cm
  17. Anytime mate, I should have invited you... it was a last minute decision to go for a run. Late October we're thinking of going again, Joco is keen, Musty expressed interest in Sweetwater today, and Che was born ready, so I thinks it's on. Mick
  18. Just a few pics of the recent weekender with the mates. My mate Che (Cheder) starts the tally off with a dirty stinkin' Carp on a Jackal (he's making this a habit), and the rest was a blur.... too many tins on the Saturday night. All that I can remember is that we got a couple of fat Reddies, some very nice Yella, and a couple of baby Cod. Hopping Jackels was productive, and a couple on the troll (when we needed a break from the casting). My other mates came down on the Sunday and had a shocker with only undersize Natives and a Carp. Mick
  19. If I'm not workin, I'm there Joey. Think I'm work though... I'll buzz ya straight away if I'm not.
  20. Gee they're schooling up there hard arn't they. Fun times mate, gotta catch up with ya for a fish soon mate.
  21. I was finally gonna make an effort to get down for this one, and was really looking forward to meeting some of the members face to face but I'm expecting to be a dad for the first time on the 24th Sept.... wanna know how to P the missus off? try fishing the day after the babies born! Mick
  22. You'll get them on both sides mate, depending on what time of year it is. That one was caught downstream of the weir (see the first pic) Good luck with it. Mick
