Good write up mate. Btw that 'stomach' they throw up, I think that's their bouyancy Bladder. Usually get that from deeper water fish like gems/blue eye. Persistance is key with Jewie fishing.

Hey mate, In my opinion, it really depends on your beach fishing style. Personally, I'm a lazy ass. If I go beach fishing, All i want to do is stick the rod down on the holder and relax with a cold one. In my case, I would opt for a Baitrunner. No need for tightening up drag when you hook up, just lock the handle. I use a Baitrunner 12000D, quite big but an 8000D would do the job. If you're planning on spinning on the surf as well, as everyone mentioned a 6000/8000 size reel would do the job quite well. Remember with Beach fishing, be prepared to clean your reel after use or have fun using a cement mixer the next time you go out (Sand with Saltwater spray doesn't go well with reels). Again, depends if you're planning to use the reel for multiple purposes. Cheers Mark

agree with sidfisher, sufix 832 does the job well. Ive currently spooled my certate 2010 2506 with 6lb and havent had any wind knot issues and doesnt take that much water (might be the gore thats its stranded with. But i think any 8 strand braid would do a good job. For that line class, id prol go 8-10lb but 15lb will do the job BTW i love the TZ, maybe i shoulda spent the extra coin and got the guided version instead of the luvias cheers Mark

lol...unlucky, i've learned my lesson of highsticking =) IMHO, i wouldn't use really light line class rods off the rocks. It may seem fun to catch your odd salmon or even king using light gear, however you need to worry about landing the fish (unlike boat fishing). btw i had a look at the new t-curves and personally, i'm not a fan. Aesthetically, they look better than the old ones, but the components they used on the old ones are of better quality. Personally, im sticking with Daiwa for Rods these days

hey mate ive got both the sea jigger and spinfisher big game.I must admitt the spinfisher is an under rated rod. Before i bought the sea jigger, i used and abused the spinfisher. its quite light for a carbon composite rod, and tough enough to withstand being thrown around on the rocks. I used to think i can cast far with this rod until i bought the sea jigger. After casting with thre seajigger, the spinfisher feels quite heavy in comparisson. You can pretty much spin the whole day with 85gm metals. In terms of price, the spinfisher can now be bought for 100ish (paid 170 3 years back), but the sea jigger can be bough for about 230 to 250. in my option if the only thing your gonna do is spin and use lures, go for a full graphite rod. Just be extra carefull dropping or high sticking it. i heard shimano has some new rock/beach rods but i heard they were rubbish. cheers mark

Mate, I've got the Stradic Ci4 paired up with a shimano Jewel (1-4kg). Not the best rod, but i must say it's well balanced. I've laid 8lb power pro line and the line is great! doesn't catch to much water and never had any braid knots etc. But if i had a choice now, i'd problem pair it up with a t-curve flight.

planning on fishing avoca today, would it be worth the trek? i'm about an hour away and if conditions are too rough, then its a waste of a drive.

Isn't Mojiko an BLAH BLAH BLAH specific rod (i.e. only sold at BLAH BLAH BLAH stores?).. IMHO i haven't used them, but i'm assumming they would be on-par with BCF's branded BOSS. I checked out their website and don't forget that even though they have fuji guides, like anything, there are lower ends and higher ends of the scale. but yeah, could be a top rod.. --looks like someone edited my post...

Nice pickup mate.. i've got the same trion rod (you were supposed to get)... Funnily enough, you've got the same combo as STYLO... (i.e. Trion Tournament / Saros 2500). Out of curiosity, how much did you pick it up for?
