  1. Just go fishing. Your Overthinking . Looks OK .
  2. Struth I have been doing it wrong for 68 years. Back in the tacklebox for me !
  3. Yes down stream from the camp ground. Toward Berowra. There was a mud boat ramp there back then for small boats and canoes ( actually that's where I proposed ) There was a creek opposite that sometimes held a flathead at the very back. Deep pool at waterfall. My son was, is on here as Bluefinjnr Never got Bluefiness to join. Now its my grandkids I fish with.
  4. Down stream from the reserve is a huge long flat. Used to catch Bream and Flathead on Rebel Crawdad lures 45 years ago. My first outing with my now wife was on those flats fishing. She caught a few flathead , bream and Me ! Hmm vintage cheese with a BBQ lunch. The things you remember !! Top of the tide / run out best. Needs some drift. Look for any undulations, even small and fish the edges. Still love flats fishing, long casts, no trees to get caught in ! Calm water!
  5. Had the same problem. turned out to be the fuel pump diaphragm. I blamed the fuel line !
  6. You Tube vids. Z man is your friend !!
  7. A good mate gave me a lot of treble protectors. plus some no 10 trebles he had changed to 4x stronger hooks! so we got together to sort and revamp my tackle box. I dont need strong hooks with the line I use on small lures. Have only ever had a string ray crush a hook!
  8. I suppose where and how I fish are more important to me than the size. The smallest yesterday would fit across your palm, just ! The biggest 53 ? Every one was fun. What I did see on 2 of the small Flathead was their whole tails fire up a brilliant blue like a Marlin.! Spectacular.
  9. It is 3 lb straight through fluro. The lures are often 2 to 3 grams and this outfit casts them well. Balanced outfit. 1 to 2 kg rod ( daiwa 2 drunk monkey old model.) Reel weight 190 grams ? Cant remember? it is a Daiwa Aegis. Reel has a max drag of 2 kg. Rod designed for 0.5 to 4 gram lures. The reel is a 2500 I think. I like the larger reel for the higher retrieve rate. Reel weight 190 grams ?
  10. Fish a cast at times yesterday , Worked the weed beds on the last of the run out, only small fish bit heaps of fun. Moved over to the other side and the deep water along the houses. A few bigger ones up to 53 c/m. Took home 6 . Truly a great day. One again photos I have tried to show the lures. 1 to 2 kg rod and 3 lb fluro my gear of choice today !
  11. Yes I prefer them cooked, we get them straight off the trawler. Beautiful Lettuce and seafood sauce goes well.🤣😀
  12. Sticking my head out here. This is my opinion. I have been a Zman lover for a long time ! So much you can do with rigging the material, get it wrong you can have a few goes. Add sax scent and its hard to beat. A bit of superglue stops the SP from slipping when you miss a bite, and the Motor oil colour, Magic. Even stands up to toothy critters quite well. I have a large reserve supply of many designs. Then along comes Daiwa with the Bait Junkie. Super stretchy and 10 times tough? Possibly. Daiwa Australia did most of the design work. I started using the 2.1/2 inch curly tail grub first, Worked well. Similar colours to ZMan. Then I got the 2.5 " minnow. Similar to the Slim Swim, But easier to rig for me. I never get the slim swim body perfectly straight. Also worked well. After a while I started seeing that they looked similar but swam quite differently to ZMan. They are much Squishier, and swim at a lower speed. Great on lighter Jig heads, Slower fall but with good action. Paused, even a small tidal flow will see them working. Then came the Risky Critter ! Love the look of it. Have caught fish on it. But just haven't used it a lot. If you read how Chris Hickson ( My Hero ) designed its appendage's to work at different speeds Its fascinating. Thought I would use it more, but at the moment the Holt swim prawn in saltwater yabby is my first choice. These bait junkies are also scented. Not talked about much, but they are. Also they can be taken off and back on many times without Tunning out the center. Toothy critter resistant too. Daiwa has the edge! Howard.
  13. In my photo we have an express way bridge now. 2 bridges !
  14. I only found it today and signed in to Deckee also Its an old map but seems cleaner than Goggle. I even commented about a useless boat ramp. no parking all fenced off as farmland. Haven't really had them side by side. The little creeks at the back of the sandflats I enjoying fishing. Different style to the fast flowing main river.
  15. I have caught 1 Mangrove Jack in 7 years. Wish they were more common. Also Estuary cod I have never caught in the Hastings ! A friend of mine and his wife have both caught a Cobia in the river since Christmas.
  16. Pickles,; My flick prawn was an experiment Rigging a prawn weedless and backwards with the tow point halfway down the back to see if the tail would flick under when hopped backwards. It failed No action as hoped for. The same prawn rigged head first on a Weedless weighted hook caught some of the flathead above. Zman prawnz. I use a few prawn imitations, but I rig them myself. that way I can choose the hook size and weight. The MMD soft prawn is a favourite in the light weight. Like a jelly prawn. Like in the first photo. Also the Holt swim prawn. But not weedless. Hopped or very slow rolled. And lets not forget the Daiwa Risky Critter ! Hidden weight system or weedless. Ok better stop now !
  17. Flick Prawn Failed. Didn't flick. The above photos have it rigged weedless head first.
  18. TOTAL FAILURE. Didn't flick the tail. Re rigged it head first weedless and caught bream and flathead with it today !!
  19. I had 5 rods with me. I fished in 6 metres of water for 2 bream. Trolled a hard body and slow rolled a 1/2 oz with a paddle tail. The rest came from a couple of centimetres to about 1.2 meters along tree and Mangrove banks. Yes. Size wasn't there But the fun was. The first photo is of a bream with a 50m/m lure in its mouth. A small bream. But I skipped a cast in under the trees right up against the bank, the hit was instant! Perfectly executed. Im happy !! The Bridge was a stop off along the way. My main objective was to fish a creek up the back of a sandy bay. Bream Bass Mangrove Jack. ( Ha who am I kidding ). Exploring a new area!
  20. Biggest Flathead 41. Bream 31. Not big fish bit a fun morning! Kept the Lures in the photos for everyone too !
  21. Interesting ! Im hoping the weedless weight will sink it horizontally, and stop it spinning ? Im fishing Thursday, Could be a total failure ?? But I tried!
