Hi guys, My dad and I will be going down to Tasmania for a trout fishing trip with both flies and lures this January. Since I've never been down that way i was wondering if anyone here has done a similar trip and could offer maybe some rivers or lakes that could hold some trout? We haven't booked flights or accommodation yet so any directions will be greatly appreciated. Also any gear tips will be good too. Leader, lures, flies etc. Cheers

Hi everyone, Just a few quick questions. I have recently bought a downrigger for the boat and obviously want to give it a good go. However I lack the locations to catch the mysterious kingfish in the first place. I have had success around moared boats in pittwater but i want to try some more offshore locations. Maybe around headlands or inshore reefs. There are however some limitations to my locations as i don't have an epirb yet and therefore cant go more than 2NM off the coast and our boat is moared in the hawkesberry so locations in sydney harbour and a tad too far. So any suggestions or guidance will be much appreciated. Cheers

Just found Platypus sinking braid in 50lb blood red? Anyone had any experience with this braid?

Thank god you said that because i was looking only at the yellow braid. What about the multi coloured braid?

Just got a daiwa Saltist 30H for kings but now need to get some braid for it. Was thinking thinking around the 40-50lb mark but dont know what brand to get? Any suggestions. Reel will be used for jigging and live baiting at times. Cheers

Ok thank you very much. Now im pretty sure I want the high ratio reel. Now there is a 30TH and a 30H. Whats the difference?

Been reading a lot of posts and some people have mixed opinions on the issue. Low ratio or high ratio reels for jigging kings. I was looking to buy a Daiwa saltist 30TH which has a 6.4-1 gear ratio which i thought what was meant for jigging. Then i find out some people use reels around 4-1 gear ratio. thoughts?

If your the kingie master, then why would you need help...hahahaha. Live squid is always a good bait and around the point of Careel bay seems to hold a few. Good luck
