  1. Can you target bass in McCarrs creek? Never targeted bass and never fished the creek so don't know much about either. I happened to be driving back from Akuna bay and drove over the creek and it got me wondering about bass there. Would it be too high for them there? Looks like a few small waterfalls around there not sure if it would be too much for the bass to get up them.
  2. Cheers Waza, very informative.
  3. Cheers. You mean it's pretty dead because of the pollution?
  4. Does anyone fish Manly lagoon still? I know it's polluted, but I tend not to keep anything anyway so that's not an issue. I saw a bloke fishing it today when I drove past. Had me wondering if many people fish it still - if so, what are they targeting mainly in there?
  5. If you're after a runabout, check out the haines 17R's and L's (the L shape is less of a runabout and more of a cuddy cabin style). They're both awesome boats with the same hull design just different top decks. The 17's are a good size as they're easy to tow and can be handled by yourself, but safe enough to take wide - I've taken mine to the shelf. Another boat to check out is the sea devil.

For that same size and beam it's more like the 565 offshore (5.65m), or the 560 offshore (5.9m). They're lot larger boats. I notice that the savage is only a L/S transom (20"). This would mean the deadrise is very shallow. This was one of the key criteraas for me - for comfortable offshore travel. Any other considerations? Also...why the turn around now?:

Keeping in fibreglass, what do you think is better design/value (in similar size)?

I want to see one "in the flesh" and have a chat to an actual owner about them.

Anyone here own a Haines hunter profish 535?
  10. I'm starting to think that this may go in the "too hard basket".
  11. Cheers Leo. What reels were you using that was holding enough line for 37kg? Was it productive jigging at Browns? Hate to bust my balls for nothing.
  12. What size spinning reel should I get for jigging Browns Mountain? I'm thinking a 18000 saragosa. Will it be too heavy? Also, what strength braid should I go? Considering 30lb so I get more line on the reel. One last question...what weight jigs do you tend to use the most there?
  13. Looks like a large cuttlefish to me.
  14. Cheers Tony. I assume then the pros don't put their traps on bare sand then. I suspect it must be patchy reef/broken bottom then - which is good to know.
  15. I forgot to mention that these are pro traps and are in about 50m of water.
