I am the same mate, been fishing twice in the last 2 weeks.
only bites i got were from sand flys.
getting sick of beach fishing. mate of mine goes to botnay bay alot
in a boat and always comes home with a good size fish or 2.
Trying to get me onto SP's as he has alot of luck.
Also look into the area your fishing (beach) bait has alot to do with it
some guy got me onto squirt worms in the picnic point area and i was getting bites withing
10 minutes of casting but had to leave due to work.
Dont get me wrong im far from being a pro.
But the advice i have been told this week is to
1. watch the locals, and ask the ones who are catching fish what they use.
2. the local bait store will always help.
3 check the shore and see whats there mud/sand/weeds and you can get an idea of what they are feeding off
4. take at least 2 rods when boat fishing, 1 for light and the other for med/heavy same goes for tackle.
5. fish finder if you can
6. last but not least a life jacket
All the best, hope you catch something big, if so post a pic and good luck
Its my first time out in a boat in over 10 years this friday so i will let you know how it goes
