  1. thanks guys, I'll get stuck into planning
  2. Hi Guys, I'm looking at quitting my summer job early this year and splurging some cash on a professional fishing trip before returning to again uni this year. I'm thinking of maybe opting to go to NT as the floods in QLD are causing chaos. I'm thinking of going on my own as i'm struggling to find a buddy that has the time off work. With this I hope to slip into a spare spot on a charter trip, rather than just stay in town and go on local charters. I'm just wondering if you guys have recommendations of places to go anywhere in Australia that could be a sort of short trip of a life time. I'm really in very early ideas stages so if you could share any experiences or tips that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone - Cam
  3. hi guys, I recently got a 27 mhz radio cheaply from FISHBONES and I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a place to buy a cheap antenna as i don't want to purchase one from a boating shop at a cost of $60. any ideas ?? Thanks Cam
  4. my fishing mate canceled on me today but i decided to go anyway. fished around towra fish with absolutely no luck what so ever. then moved closer to taren pt bridge [south east of it towards moored boats] and picked up some quality fish: bream - biggest 40 cm - 4 in total flathead - biggest 45cm - 2 in total i used prawns and nippers, with the prawn being effective if pealed and cut into smaller pieces. the fish were kind of far in between with hardly any little ones caught. i also had something else that was going off, but it busted me up by breaking the line Great day, with some rain, but gee great fish, probably being one of my best sessions, well certainly for this year and my mate i'm sure will not cancel on me again
  5. thanks for the tips guys, after the holiday rush i will put some early morning hours in there
  6. i dusted off my fishing gear and headed on down to the baths in hope of catching some good bread and butter fish or getting one of these infamous kings [kingie virgin]. got down to the baths around 11 am with a rising tide, early on got some nice hits on prawns, taking time to produce a fish on the wharf. so getting backing to fishing after a break i perfected catching fish and for a while i brought in a fish for each bait i cast out. unfortunately all these fish were little bream and snapper all too small to keep. i got some yellow tail also that i put out on a larger bait that went untouched. as the tide changed the fishing slowed down, with only small fish been caught by when i left around 3pm. ALL in all nice day in the sun, but it would have been nice to bring some fish home
  7. i see you are spraying the hull, are you doing it yourself or getting it done professionally?
  8. i ve never heard of these slimy tubes before, but as explained by Evets the seem quiet effective in keeping a bait alive and looking good for YFT and other fish.
  9. i am going on holidays on thursday to surfers paradise and i was just wondering if anybody had any recommended landbased spots. i wont have a car so somewhere close to surfers would be good Thanks
  10. Five people have been killed in a collision between two boats on Sydney Harbour early this morning. Nine others have been injured, and three are in a critical condition, authorities said. SMH article terrible news
  11. The Hairtail!!! and the thumper bream
  12. i recently picked up a old tohatsu motor from double pluggers. firstly if anybody could tell me the horsepower of the year that would be greatly appreciated. the serial number is 338-05105 secondly i wish to get the motor running, i have given it a bit of a service looking at the water pump, carby, fuel line and filter etc. but i can't get it to start. my suspicion is that there is no spark as i have tested and i don't think there is any spark. (not a expert) the electrical system is a bit dodgey in the way of the HT leads. in addition i was told that it may need new points. are these points located under the flywheel? and should they be done? thanks guys cam Ps i may put up some pictures of the engine later
  13. A Chinese man walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. He tells the loan officer that he is going to China on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000. The bank officer tells him that the bank will need some form of security for the loan, so the Chinese man hands over the keys of his new Ferrari parked on the street in front of the bank. He produces the title and everything checks out. The loan officer agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. The bank’s president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at the Chinese man for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral against a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drives the Ferrari into the bank’s underground garage and parks it there. Two weeks later, the Chinese man returns, repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41. The loan officer says, “Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multi-millionaire. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?” The Chinese man replies: “Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return?” [joke]
  14. it is the same one that is there every year i think. it has a parts of a quintrex boat and yamaha where the man stands and casts from. often the guy fishes in the tank without hooks and this shows the fishes aggression towards the lures. they also have some pretty good and durable lures and reasonable prices, but i wouldn't go to the easter show just for this small fishing part.
  15. i also had a similar problem when i first got insurance. my tinnie has no manufacture id or anything similar. so i advised the insurance company of this (GIO) and they told me to take a guess [ yes i thought this was very unusual]. so both my manufacture and boat age are guesses on the insurance and rego papers hope this helps cam
  16. i hear that all toyota engines have now been replaced with lots of killer wasps

    Biodiesel

at school last year and this year we are making a veggie oil refining system. we aren't making bio diesel. our system works by run the engine on diesel for the first 5 mins than switching over to pure veggie oil. However some engine modifications need to be made but the cost is around $1500 which is similar to LPG. it works only on older vechicles pre 2000. our production cost of our veggie oil are going to be around 10 cents a litre. i have heard that backyard production of biodiesel is illegel, but i cannot be sure.
  19. this would do me fine or maybe a 50ft steber (commerical model)
  20. i'm don't know if your car is manual or auto but ake sure you know the correct gear to have the car in as the hand brake is not enough to hold the entire rig. Good Luck and catch all those fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  21. my tinnie also is very easy to lanuch, i always use holts pt place as i pretty much have it to myself but lately the bowrider club has been cramping my style. oh well when hole in the wall reopens i will have my peace and quiet. you should have seen the social boater the other week that drove the trailer off the side of the ramp!!! and the one with the front wheels of the car getting wet, that ramp is not for driving on!!!
  22. they a making the ramp double width (it should probably be triple) and adding a new pontoon on the opposite side to the old wharf. they also added some toilets. there is still a bit of work to be done so i think it will open at early december how did you find holts pt place ramp, i was down there yesterday too
  23. i must agree i knew that a change was coming through, however the media plays up the story like it is a freak change causing huge problems. it was just a few sailors capsizing and a bystander called 000 and the news.
  24. To all Members this Ramp is undergoing an upgrade. Currently the ramp is still open but in next couple of weeks i suspect that it may close. they are also putting in a new pontoon and toilets!! at last an upgrade!! i will get some photos when it is all complete
