Fishrunner, Thanks for the all the help. Pictures especially are great. I saw the scoop bracket but not the adjustable slide you seem to have at whittworths the other day. I'm assuming that is a sounder transducer mount??? or maybe they were out of stock. I walked out of whitworths $200 poorer by the time I purchased tube, bilge, mount, silicone, joiners etc. That was on top of 270 spent on tank, Was unhappy with that so have decided to try and cut back on the use of some items...test out their refund policy! At the moment I have the bilge mounted up under my rear step closish to the rear of boat. I'm 90% sure it will be below the waterline. hoping to test it this arvo weather permitting. Seems only slightly higher than it would be on the other style of bracket. Slightly can mean a lot when talking water levels so i'm not holding my breath...I now have some stainless that will do the job as a right angled bilge mount if needed. I was provided with a scoop with the tank so i now figure i will use it as a separate line, cheaper to buy some tubing than scoop from whitworths and i can now have the water flow permanently adjusted to avoid flooding without impeding pump pressure or forgetting to change setting constantly. Let me know what you think, nothing is permanent at the moment so changes can be made. I know when you are trying to cut back on costs things can go astray but i have no other choice at the moment.. unless you have a spare room, missus wasn't impressed lets say.... Cheers FSHIIIN

Fishrunner, Thanks for the advice. Will keep it clear of the transducer. Your setup looks very good indeed. Was wondering if the stainless bracket is commercially available or special order. FSHIIIN

Hi guys, was thinking of installing my bilge pump for new live bait tank very close to the transducer of sounder. Trying to share holes drilled with adapted stainless bracket. Any opinions/comments on possible interference would be good to hear to get it right the first time (for once)... ta FSHIIIN
  5. When i'm tossing feathers for flatties I remember this saying- "Chartruese can't lose". It seems the most consistent colour for me and mates. Then as a last resort blues, pinks can sometimes work. Cheers FSHIIIN
  6. Thanks champ, That's a big frickin flatty.....I pulled a 77 last week and that sent tingles through me when he/she/it glided up into view... imagine what a fish that big would look like coming up from the murky depths..
  7. How big was this fish?? can anyone tell me a length or weight?? If it will cause issues(More) then no need but sure am curious... FSHIIIN
  8. Hi all, Went to Pittwater and conducted research yesterday... Found there are still kings to 67cm and 60cm swimming around in there. FSHIIIN
  9. Hi Guys, Thanks for the advice. Sorry late to reply but went fishin yesterday!! Have given me something to think about. Will definently go with pump set up. It's just now a decision on whether the barrel or ice box will fit the spot i want to put it in. looks like it's a trip with the measuring tape. Cheers Brett
  10. Have been thinking about installing a live bait/fish tank in the tinnie. The bucket technology isn't really doing the job anymore. Have looked at the reef tanks, they seem smallish to me....and rather expensive. maybe these are the go?? was thinking of doing an esky/ ice box conversion..... Any ideas would be a great help. Cheers Brett FSHIIIN
  11. Yeh well I blew up the old lawn mower on the new Buffalo due to not mowing it regularly enough because iv'e been fishin too much to get to it... Frickin karma... That's $500 the tackle boxes won't be seeing... FSHIIIN
  12. headin out to chase Jews on plastic around the Georges sat morning. trip number 5, maybe this will be the one!! Can only hope. sunday late start on pittwater. dropping the girls off somewhere and give the new downrigger a run, first run with it so will be happy if it all works OK. Good luck all. Cheers Fshiiin
  13. Nice work coastfisher, Couple of thumpers on any sort of tackle, let alone plastics. Yamba is a fishermans paradise.... Not running background recognition software, spoke to you thursday Night!! Thanks for the advice. Cheers FSHIIIN
  14. Ronald and Jeff, Not sure if I clicked the right button but will see I guess. hardbodies that were doin the job included mans stretch 5 in pink and Mcgraths in pink and a little pink bream lure, can't remember name. tried gold for a while but didn't get any attention. not sure if colour was the issue or it may not have suited the water depth I was trolling. have done OK with gold before.. That was me up the river. I like the look of edge of sandbanks up the Lane Cove. Have had reasonable success up there. Usually toss plastics for flatties but a bit over it lately, had a week at Forster and caught and released about 60 in 4 sessions, love mid north coast flatty action. Some good fish amongst those lots of 50's few 60' and a 70 which went hard in leases. Thought I'd try old school for a while, it has worked for me in Botany and Hen and Chicken always this season and besides it's easier to drink beer when trolling.... Looking to upgrade to jew on plastics and will soon have downrigger for Pittwater kings installed.
  15. Hi all, Long time reader first time writer! Been meaning to join for a while and as I'm starting to fish more actually have something to write about! Trolled hardbodies around Hen and Chicken area and Lane Cove River for 10 or so flatties , couple of bream and choppers. Not too bad for a few hours fishing. Size was a little dissapointing, but generally speaking fish in Lane cove River seemed bigger, may have just been a coincidence. Cheers B&C
