We just put the crabs in a pot of boiling salty water and leave them for about 10-15 mins.

G'day Raiders Decided to go to the Georges Last night for some Muddies. At the end end of the night we ended up with 3 Mud crabs with one very large muddy which weighed weighed in at 1.9 kilos "absolute chunker" and measured 14 cm from the tip of the shell to the back and 20cm along the horizontal of the shell. I have caught a very large cuttlefish off Bare Island in Botany. Absolute monster he was. .Ended up throwing him back.

I"ve caught thousands of Shovelnoses but I always throw them back. Next time I get one I'll give it a try.

That is right all mud crabs were caught in the main channel of the hawkesbury where there was good amount of current. I cant give away my spot, cause everyone will go and clean them out. Good Luck to you all anyways with your crabbing.

Only once in the Hawkesbury but never in the georges river. It also depends on where you crab. The further down river the more chance of getting blue swimmers.

Georges River is the river I always crab its just that going to the Hawkesbury is a big trip for me and costs allot of money.

I know it just keeps on getting higher and higher. soon there will be no mud crabs left.

I generally use witches hats as you are allowed 5 per person but you have to make sure you have plenty of spare nets as they get ripped to shreds when you get the big crabs tangled in their. :1yikes: For pots you are only allowed one per person. Best bait for muddies is fresh mullet.
