  1. Apparently they're designed to be attached from either the front or back with one end having a little cup on it according to Mad Dog, so two lures in one I guess! They've also got rip minnows coming out in 50mm and 70mm too apparently All the images and info is from https://www.facebook.com/pages/3B-Crank-Hard-Body-Lures/ and Mad Dog is asking for opinions on if people want larger Sub Dogs too
  2. Mad dog Adam Royter posted these on the 3B lure Facebook page to give a sneak peak into whats coming! No idea on size/weight yet though
  3. Exceed is now available in Crystal, Looking forward to trying that out but I do love being able to see the blaze orange colour when working my lures better But I'm torn between grabbing Crystal Exceed or buying some new Nanofil to try for flats work
  4. Mate next time I'm out and see them I'll PM you
  5. Look around, I still see HEAPS of these in shops
  6. Guy fishing in Corpus Christi Texas caught this 100+ lb bale of Marijuana It's called a Square Grouper by the US Coast Guard, bails like this are usually thrown out of planes or off freighters and picked up and carried in to shore by Go fast boats, quite often a few bails get lost and written off, or are thrown overboard when being chased by the cops... all in all that is one INSANE catch!
  7. Some have luck there based on all the research I've done on it since its close to a mates house, but generally its one of those places that are hard, very very hard to catch fish in. There was one guy who fished there a lot and kinda worked it out a few years ago so I'm guessing if you put in many many MANY hours to figure it out then you might be successful
  8. Hahahah only took me a few minutes to write, I did it by memory and only checked a few things to make sure I was remembering it right I've always been fascinated by venomous animals, but I rather snakes most of all! I mean an animal with no arms or legs yet can bring down the biggest of animals? Amazing! Glad you're alright though mate, could have ended badly for ya and god knows I'll be double checking my weed clumps from now on too! It's a hazardous job fishing in Australia, everywhere you turn something either wants to poison you or bite and eat you hahaha
  9. It's only their beak (aka its mouth) that can hurt you since it's venom is actually it's saliva, touching their skin etc is fine just don't go ANYWHERE near the mouth.. It's a lot like a snake in that regard, if it touches you or you touch it you're fine unless it bites you then you really need to worry! Though if it does bite you just pray you're close to hospital or someone who can give you mouth to mouth since its venom paralyzes your body and you stop breathing even though you're awake the entire time, its the same stuff you find in Puffer fish Tetrodotoxin. People survive the bites by being put on ventilators in hospital to keep the artificially breathing until the toxin wears off since it mostly kills via paralysis which leads to suffocation The real bad bit is they carry enough venom to kill about 25 healthy human adults, and the bites are tiny and often painless and you sometimes don't know you're bitten until the effects of the venom start to take hold! They've always been here mate The species you get around Sydney and the southern coast is the the Blue Lined Octopus (Hapalochlaena fasciata) which ranges from Southern Queensland to Southern NSW, from Victoria (and probably the far south coast of NSW) to Tasmania, South Australia and Southern WA you get the Southern Blue Ringed Octopus (Hapalochlaena maculosa) and they both range from about 0-50m in depth. They aren't just found in Australia either, the Greater Blue Ringed Octopus (Hapalochlaena lunulata) is found in tide pools and shallow reefs 0-20m deep from Northern Australia to Japan, The Soloman Islands, Papua New Guinna, Indonesia, Philippines and as far east as Sri Lanka Can you tell I like venomous animals?
  10. Gotta be careful if you mean your red P's, you can only tow a max load of 250kg (eg Trailer + boat plus everything else, fuel ice and the added weight from your mods could push it over that mark) or you can get done for it and lose ya P's Either way mate nicely done! Been considering doing a similar project myself for awhile now!
  11. Yeah the Cronulla Houseboats or whatever they were called shut up shop in December if I remember correctly, the only place on the upper hacking now is Atwells I think
  12. To be fair Squid are a very short lived species so there would be very minimal build up of any chemicals in them, so they would be safe to eat in moderation (one or so every now and then). The real danger comes from species that are long lived, or live/feed in the mud and sediment in the river where all the Chemicals etc accumulate. You're not even supposed to eat much fish that are caught to the east of the Harbour Bridge either, but in all honesty how many Raiders eat fish caught in the harbour? Same with people who catch fish off the runways in Botany bay really close to the Cooks, whats to say the fish haven't moved in after being up the Cooks or Alexandra Canal? Basically you can't be sure if the fish you caught has been living in a place you wouldn't eat it from or not since fish move around a lot to feed/breed or even depending on rainfall etc so no matter where you catch your fish if you're worried about dioxins and things in your fish then just fish catch and release and only take home the occasional fish Here is the recommendations for what you should eat out of the harbour </h3> You can read more info here http://www.foodautho...afood/#Overview
  13. Thats bloody nuts mate! The thought of all those harbour pylons and light line.... Though I gotta admit I'm loving using light tackle too, even just ordered some 1lb fireline and 2lb leader for a bit of fun...
  14. Somewhere in between the two mate! And cheers, I was stunned to pull it out myself, I called it for a big Taylor at first but when it got a bit closer and I saw the spots I was absolutely shocked at what it was
  15. Cheers! Yeah mate it went off like firecracker, it really didn't want to give in at all and it was only about 2kg... If they fight like that when they are only that size I'd love to hook into a 70cm model!
  16. Man what a day I can barely believe it, landing a 50cm Salmon on 2lb Crystal Fireline and 4lb Vanish leader on a little 2-4kg rod and 1000 size Shimano Sienna, FROM SHORE! It started out at 11pm last night, me and a mate decided since we both had the day off to go for a fish so after him getting permission from the wife and grabbing his gear we headed off. We ended up arriving at our target location on the upper Georges at around 1am on a VERY cold morning (9C apparent temp with windchill) , so we didn't exactly have high hopes for the day. After spending the night fishless and absolutely freezing we had thoughts of packing up but decided to fish a little longer, around sunrise we managed to get a few little tailor and that was enough to make us decide 'Alright maybe we should stay a little longer' and boy am I glad we did! Just before 8am after the sun come out and the wind died down in some very glassy looking conditions I noticed a rather large flock of birds working the water a few hundred meters away which I quickly pointed out to my mate, to which he replied 'Wonder what that's all about' before he went back to flicking his switchblade in the search of a flatty for lunch. I ended up figuring that whatever those birds were feeding on there would have had to have been fish around and it wasn't long before I was proven right, barely before I could finish the thought we started seeing bait fish jump around fleeing whatever was below the water all the while being hammered by the birds from above. It was about now I decided I'd tie a little 55mm green/gold/black coloured popper on just in case the fish come closer, however no sooner had I tied it on the fish stopped busting up and I was left a little disappointed, so I sat down and decided to wait to see if they would re-emerge It wasn't long before my mate pointed out bait fish swimming around by the shore, they looked to be mixed, some were little schools of white bait while others looked to be about the size of a pilly so I knew the fish wouldn't be far behind and this is where the fun really happened... Just out of normal casting range they started to bust up, so deciding what the hell I lobbed a cast in the hopes of getting close enough... and something magical then happened! Just as I cast a nice gust of wind blew in and was enough to carry my popper just far enough to land directly in the middle of the school and before I could even wind in the slack I was on! At this point I had no idea what it was but it took off, it peeled so much line in its initial run I could start to see the colour of my backing starting to show through what was left of my braid on the reel! That little spool was going so fast I thought it would melt! But calmly i tightened up the drag just slightly and his run stopped and it was here I had to really be careful to not get busted off with so much structure around for it! I slowly started to glift and wind, gaining a little bit on him every time, but he really didn't want to come in, and because I was only using 2lb line with a 4lb leader I didn't want to put pressure on him, so I started to wear him down bringing him in a few beters at a time as he got his body side on to me and really started resisting! After about 5 minutes of this he was finally close enough to see colour and and I nearly jumped out of my skin at it being a salmon where I was fishing! but before I could even get beyond surprise he decided to lunge under the jetty I was fishing on to try and snap me off, but luckily I jammed my rod top in the water grabbed a hold of the spool and through nothing short of an act of god he slid back out! At this point I was yelling at my mate to get him in the net but he replied my other rod and reel were stuck in the net so I just told him I don't care net him! which he valiantly managed without dunking my other combo! To say I was elated would be an understatement! I was over the friggin moon!
  17. Those fat dog deeps have a beautiful little action on them don't they? Only a matter of time until they start to account for a lot of fish By the way, you might want to edit/shrink the size of the pictures with your fishing license in them, at full size you can read your full name, address and date of birth!
  18. Brilliant job guys I actually checked out the weir for the first time yesterday on my way through Liverpool to another spot yesterday and was surprised at just how fishy it looked! Some of those snags near by you just know would be holding some nice Bass!
  19. Had a ball nailing Tailor on a Berkley 3B Sub Dog during a shut down bite

  20. G'day guys hoping you can ID this, I've seen them schooling around a lot and I know I know the name I just cannot for the life of me remember what it's called and it's driving my mate nuts trying to find out what it is
  21. Just came here to post that myself Despite having been on the internet since the mid 90's myself I can say you never quite get used to seeing some of the seriously inept comments about anything and everything people spout off without doing any research The comments against it completely and utterly floor me. The fish can't breed in the dam, it's stocked and taking a big one like this every now and then takes out an apex predator giving other fish a chance to grow bigger without really affecting anything significantly Sure it would be nice to put it back for the rest of us to catch, but you can bet there are far bigger in there anyway and now they have one less competitor they can get even bigger!
  22. Snapped my brand new IM7 1-2KG rod in a car door, ugh hope I can get it repaired!

  23. If they just Google the word flasher I'm sure they'd end up with an eyeful of the wrong kind! So may I suggest a Google search for "Fishing Flasher" instead? Cracker Chinook there mate though, I'm planning on trying to head over there in early 2012 to visit friends and get into the fishing... I can only hope I get something half that size!
  24. They are a protected species in NSW so you have to release them more info about them http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/species-protection/protected-species/marine-or-estuarine-species/estuary-cod
  25. Probable salting them then freezing them for a steady supply of bait for future trips and using the carcass' and offcuts ground up to make a berley or even using the frames as crab bait, it's what I'd do and what most others do too! Though apparently they make a half decent sashimi when fresh too and a half decent grilled tuna steak, all depends on your taste Very nice haul though, never gotten one myself but its one of many species on my bucket list!
