Hi all, I just bought and installed a new Garmin 50 series sounder and have a few questions Can anyone recommend a site that shows how to interpret the screen ideally screenshots showing what things look like such as sand or gravel, rocks or weed, fish or not Also the depth reading work at speed but once I hit about 15 to 20 knots the sounder screen just shows clutter....is this normal or should I raise or lower sounder Thanks all

On Sunday I was doing a drift from middle of Pittwater between Palm Beach and west head and as we approached Second Head started having squid take the bait. Luckily I had a couple of jigs handy and managed to get amongst them, very easy to catch and had it not been for a cranky child would easily have got enough for a meal. (Didn't have my live bait bucket with me) Anyway just wondering if I were to get more are there any kingies around Pittwater and where Cheers Are frozen squid any good as bait for kingies

To the first question I would say reasonably slowly And the jig, well have a light carbon fibre rod about 6'and probably twitch the end of it about 60cm

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can give me tips on catching squid in the harbour....I have seriously lost count of the number of times I have tried. Have tried balmoral and middle head over kelp beds at night, dawn and daylight....I've tried counting till I get to bottom and then wind in jigging the line at the same time Also have tried jigging under spit bridge night, dawn and daylight Have tried with a glow stick above the jigs, have tried spraying stuff on I bought at the local fish shop Any tips really appreciated Cheers

We went out from Tunks at about 4, couldn't catch squid (still) so tried some yakkas ....not even a touch Any tips on catching squid?

Hi all, In a couple of weeks am heading to a place called Pumpkin Island which is part of the Great Keppel group just off Rockhampton/Yeppoon. The island has lagoon, ocean and mainland facing rock/reef ledges and some terrific mangroves. People I know who have been there swent snorkling and saw large fish all round specially in the mangroves. Any advice on prospective species, tackle, etc....any help appreciated Looking forward to wetting my line after a long winter working on the house...thanks guys!
