  1. G'day I thought i would add my 2 cents worths, seing as how i own a watersnake. I have it on my 4.5m brooker side console. got one of the first one released in Sydney & so far has been faultless. the do lack a few of the refinements of the minn kotas, such as auto pilot feature, but for nearly half the price , im not complaining. they are also a little bit noisier on the steering servo, but are very quiet on the thrust motor. I would thoroughly recommend them to a new user or someone on a tighter budget. I am more than happy with mine. I also puchased a minn kota quick release bracket & anderson plugs from bias boating which fits the Watersnake perfectly, and makes removal a piece of cake. Cheers Dave P.s Have added some pics also
  2. Gday All, You have provided some interesting info as always! Im heading over to Fiji in mid January for a 12 day Family holiday As it's my Birthday while we are over there the has sanctioned me to go on a charter. im staying at the Navity Resort on the south of the main island. Does anyone have some options for me to inquire about? Was thinking of maybe sport fishing some local reefs for GT's etc? any advice would be great. Thanks all Dave
  3. Great effort Pete, She's a ripper & so glad to hear she went back to fight another day Well done Cheers Dave
  4. Gday Tuffy, I got a mate to make me a custom aluminium tank to my specifications. it was made in a vee configuration and wide enough to fit between the floor stringers. I made a drawing in paint, which i gave to him & it came out spot on. It cost me about $350 @ mates rates, but well worth it. The deck fill, breather & fill hose cost about $60 I also fitted a teleflex fuel sender which was compatible with the yamaha digital multifunction gauge, which gives speed, fuel level, range etc and so far has been pretty accurate. Dave
  5. Hey coolamon just thought i would add my input....... I've had my Brooker 4.5m Side console for 12months now & i am very happy with it. They are a tough , no nonsense outfit & great value for money, but as mentioned in other posts, do lack a little in the spit & shine dept as compared to quinnies & stacers etc. I have a 40hp Yammie 2stroke & with 3 average sized blokes still manages around 42km/hr Its nice and beamy, with plenty of storage & room to move. Its a breeze to launch & retrieve by myself it will handle light offshore with ease as well as being able to get up some shallow creeks . Ive fitted a 55l underfloor fuel tank & a livie tank all in all ,it serves my purposes perfectly & was within the budget i had to play with. it tows easliy behind a family six & have also towed it behind wifes 2.0l 4cyl. i purchased at belmont afordable boats (near newcastle) they were good to deal with. hope this helps Dave

    Cork Grips

Gday raiders, I have a question that some of you might be able to help me with. Does anyone now what would be best to use on the cork grips of my spinning rods to help preserve them & prolong there life? They get filthy after a day throwing plasitics around. I always give them a wash with a light detergent solution & rinse with fresh water at the end of the day,but the seem to be becoming a bit dry.....any ideas? I thought Saqa might know the answer? Dave
  7. Ive had the misfortune to have been stung twice!....both times at Salamander Bay at Port Stephens. The first time was in the side of the heel, my ankle swelled so much it split the skin! The second time was in the end of the big toe & the barb hit the bone.i had to have three shots of local anaesthetic & shot of morphine to make the pain bearable, then i slept fo 18 hours These were only by fairly small sand rays & the pain was excruciating...........imagine the pain poor Steve went through with the size of those bull rays? Its not a nice experience, i wouldn't wish it on anyone. thats was some good info too Inhlanzi Cheers Dave
