  1. Howdy Raiders, Long time no post. Day off today so took the kayak out on the Parramatta river blading for a haul of a 12cm Tailor, a 7cm Pinkie and then this Leatherjacket of a whopping 2cm. Cracking day Tsuribaka
  2. Awesome read mate. Laughed my butt off with your 'new underwear' call. Well done on the hot Bass session. Interesting batch of S-factor....as long as it works.
  3. Sounds like a great session and welcome to Fishraider
  4. Howdy Raiders, Been a while since my last post. Woke up this morning and said to the wife 'let's go for a Bass fish'. By the way, never been Bass fishing before. She responded correctly and said 'ok'. Anyway, an hour or so later, were on the water in our yaks chucking some lures around. Middle of the day, so we had a spinner-bait going to fish deep and a suspending/shallow running hard body. Saw about half a dozen or so surface takes of various bugs within the first hour. We got to our half-way point up the river and turned around to head home with no luck. That was until the missus suggested 'why don't you change lure'. Second cast with a Berkley MF50..........WHHHOOOOOSSSSHHHHKKKKAAAAAA. Chucked it right up towards the edge of the bank at the base of this big plant living half in the water, and out came my first bass to gobble up my offering. A minute later, I had my first Australian Bass in the yak. Released to get bigger and fatter for the next lucky fisher. 38cm and just over the kilo mark. Good Fishing, Tsuribaka
  5. Sounds like you had an awesome weekend. Solid bass in those photos. Yet to catch a bass but have caught Yellowbelly to a few kilo up at Windamere on the most basic of rods and soft plastics. Congrats on a successful trip.
  6. Always top reports from you guys and great pics. Well done on the feed.
  7. Hahahaha. Hilarious, but I do recall those moments of not knowing what to do with a big fish on the end of the line. It will come with experience. Definitely reminds me of that Iwo Jima scene. My money is on a mammoth Sting-Ray.
  8. Not a bad little session there mate.A nice couple of fish. Don't ya hate eels I cant think of a worse thing to have on the end of my line.
  9. God.... if thats the by-product of take home paperwork, then i'm in the wrong business. I need an office job. A cracker couple of Jew there. Bravo.
  10. Well done. A nice first fish of the season and to be fishing with family.....nothing better. Hope they just keep getting bigger from here on in.
  11. Well.......didn't get out the heads for a fish Sunday due to the swell, but wet a line nonetheless. Mate call late Saturday night and gave me the bad news, but woke up Sunday and thought I would head out for a fish anyway. Got to some rocks in the harbour and came up with this flattie after about an hour of casting a range of lures into a nice strong headwind. Last lure selection, thought I would chuck out a slug. Depth off the rocks was about 15 feet and sandy with scattered weed patches. Cast out, let it hit the bottom ready to work it up through the water column and along the surface. Started to retrieve when I felt some weight then a few head shakes. Put up a short but decent fight. Measured 49cm and 866gm. Decided on the drive home to grab a dozen oysters, 500gm of banana prawns and some Salmon and Kingfish sashimi to go with my soon to be pan-fried flattie. Best Sunday lunch in a while. Good fishing, Tsuribaka
  12. Sam Pointer, It was Lady bay. The last bay inside south head. Low tide. Be careful if you head down there......very slippery and big swells. No fish is worth your life. Good luck if you do.
  13. Howdy Raiders, Been a member for a while, check the site nightly..........time to start doing my bit for the fishraider community. Firstly, a pic of a Frigate Mackerel I spun up off the rocks Sydney Harbour March 09. Went 1.3kg and about 45cm. Rod was a Shimano Torx 6'6 2-5kg, Reel was a Shimano 4000FX spooled with basic Wasabi 8lb mono. Was thinking I might hook up to a large Tailor but got this so was just as happy. Secondly, Frigate Mackerel for dinner that night. Lastly, last Thursday i went down to Parramatta River to chuck a few lures for some Bream or Flathead. It was about 11 in the morning, around the change of tide, overcast and had rained for a few days prior. Thought I would start off with a Surface lure (Stiffy Top Dog). About my third cast got a small Tailor that got off right at my feet. Two minutes later on two consecutive casts, landed another two Tailor. Dropped a fourth shortly after that. Was quite surprised to see the odd tailor smashing things off the surface, not a school of them, just the odd one here and there. Quite a loud boof too, similar to a bass surface strike. Moved ten metres up the bank, first cast with the same lure....BANG!!!!! Watched this beast of what i thought to be a huge Tailor smash this lure. After a few minute battle with about five jumps out of the water, I landed my first ever Aussie Salmon..............right up the Parra river of all places. Obviously lost and hungry. A waterways boat slowed down to watch all the action unfold and then an old chines man was suddenly behind me cheering me on in his native tongue. That was hilarious. Salmon went 57cms and about a 1.5kg. It did have a nice rusty ganged hook stuck in its cheek. Sorry about pic quality, I only had my phone on me. Rod was a Daiwa D-Shock 7'0 combo spooled with about 8lb mono. Anyway, heading out the heads this Sunday to try and get a few Bonito, Salmon and Kings. Wish me luck. Good fishing, Tsuribaka
