  1. Thanks mate , always trying new angles cheers Mark
  2. Thanks mate but the jacket isn't required on a boat like mine 5.25mtr ( 4.8mtr or less you are required to wear them if solo ), but i do throw one on if it gets bumpy out there for sure . cheers Mark
  3. great effort mate , i reckon the good quality yozuri jigs go a long way in getting these "buggers" hooked up ,righto i'm off to my local to get some cheers Mark
  4. great work on the haul of bream , gotta agree with the squid theory from Mr Fish they have been chasing my soft plastics and shredding them as well in Botany Bay, few weeks back i dropped a jig over the side while i was flickin in the other direction and managed a nice squid soon after. cheers Mark
  5. Took the"flickinlures" boat out for a camera trial arvo with the soft plastics after work as i usually do , i had a brainwave to put my new $400 Go Pro 3 camera on the end of my pool skimmer pole and drop it in the corner rod holder , it made for some great footage , i had trialled it a few weeks before at Lake Lyell near Lithgow for a fishing comp for some good results , i managed to have a reasonable arvo boating around 10 Trevally at 30+cm , i took 3 home and let the rest go but i was very surprised by the footage i got from such a simple use of a pool scoop pole , looks pretty cool i reckon
  6. Yep still dreaming to get one of those big fellas WELL DONE
  7. Went up to Lake Lyell last weekend to fish in my 1st ever fishing comp , it was a great weekend with some old and new friends .it was a pretty slow for my boat as i only got one 30cm rainbow trolling a red/black bibbed minnow and dropped a 45cm+ at the boat after it jumped 3 times trying to spit the trebles , he succeeded on the 4th shake of his head and it would have made for some good footage but unfortunately i had a dead camera battery, it was absolutely freezing but our camp fire by the lake and the foxtel running to watch the footy made it more cozy .i took some footage of us trolling and the lake using a few different camera angles.Around 58 fish were caught in the comp by 100+ anglers including bass , rainbows and browns .Check out Lake Lyell at it's finest 98% full and clear sunny skies. cheers Mark
  8. Well done mate , my solo 30cm rainbow at Lake Lyall would have made a good live bait for that ripper cheers Mark
  9. What a cracker on the light gear well done cheers Mark
  10. Too funny mate , well done getting the wife to the ramp at that hour 1stly and well done on the change of strategy with the xraps ,ahhgg the life of a decky which it sounds like you were , but those few hrs that you spent with your No1 will give you soooo many points towards further trips , but having said that i do enjoy seeing my wife drag a fish in and it's almost as good as getting one boated yourself well done on your getting her out on the water you may find you now have a new fishing partner for those early starts champ !!! like i say to everyone on this site get a camera and video your experiences even if it's on your phone " tight lines " rgds Mark "flickinlures"
  11. top effort , good to see more little fishos on the posts
  12. Went for my usual Friday arvo fish on Botany Bay , i actually caught my 1st squid believe it or not !! . one little bugger chased my 4" pumkinseed worm to the boat and had one of his tenticles holding on by the finger nail when he decided to let go, i then thoght i would try and entice him back with one of my dodgey $4 squid jigs that has been floating around in the bottom of the "flickinlures" tackle box for ages , so i rigged it up on a floater out the back of the boat whilst drifting and continued to throw the soft plastics with the slight breeze at my back it seemed like the perfect setup i don't know why i haven't tried this before , soon after the floating squid jig rod started to bend over ever so slightly so i dropped the plastics rod and picked up the squid jig and found a nice little lolli pop of a squid on the end, got him in the net and i had finally busted another donut. In the live well he went for my grand plan of a Molinuex Pt Kingy .Which leads me into the an experience that some might think trivial but i feel when driving a boat you need to consider others on the water , i was about halfway between the green Molinuex Pt marker and the shore around the 12mtr mark , my camera shot didn't really show how much room this boat had between us but it was enough to me off , this boat had plenty of room to go inside the shipping channel " the other side of the marker " plus the rest of Botany Bay but he decided to squeeze in between .All i am highlighting here and it wasn't at all a dangerous situation but more one of consideration. One thing i will always do when i am drifting and flickin my soft plastics around is to be aware of other boats and particularly those who may be on the same drift , always go around the back of the drift and not across the front or if i'm heading towards the same situation explained here i would go around a give plenty of room " just sayin "
  13. Great fish mate I'll be taking the "flickinlures" boat up there next Friday / Sat fishing the Sea bees Tournament it'll be her 1st trip in the 7 yrs i had her fishing fresh water and i'll be on the look out for that big fish's brother can't wait , any secret spots you wanna PM would be helpful. cheers Mark
  14. check out "Charlie Carp" fertilizers that's about all they're good for , iv'e seen systems up around Bathurst that i have fished for the past 40yrs overtaken by these pests , knock on the head and feed to the cat.
  15. I defy anyone to top that it's a horse and i would reckon even by SA standards cheers Mark
  16. Well that just makes my 48cm PB look like a tadpole and i remember the fight that tadpole gave me earlier this year it was the best 4 mins iv'e had on Botany this year so that monster must have been an awesome experience well done cheers Mark
  17. Great news on that dam level , the "flickinlures" boat will be heading up there for the fishing comp later this month so watch out for the video on youtube, never fished there before so i am loading up on tassie devils and spinner baits. The satellite dish will be coming so we don't miss the footy
  18. There up there for sure i have seen claws on the banks amongst the mangroves around green point and the back of Lani's caravan park , but i reckon the hit rate will be higher on the blue swimmers , good luck mate rgds Mark "FLICKINLURES"
  19. what a cracker well done mate
  20. Anthony, It was just a little $4 metal lure from Big W , i reckon those fish that day would have taken a teaspoon with a treble attached cheers Mark "flickinlures"
  21. What a great part of the world we try to get up there a least 3 times a year camping ,last 2 trips were in Oct/Nov 2012 not long after the floods went through check out the footage i took of the Turon and Macquarie rivers junction and the difference in the water colour , this is why we prefer to camp on the Turon due to the fact it's always cleaner , on the Nov trip i did drop a line for 20 mins trying to entice a nice 60cm cod that was sunbaking over a patch of sand but he wasn't interested, it was the 1st time i had ever seen one of these fish in this system and just made me want to go back next time and get one to add to my list.
  22. Mate have you got a youtube account ? if not get one and upload your videos to youtube put the link as i do , action like this needs to be shared with the masses ,the Go Pro is one of the best inovations out there !! Well done on thinking outside the square a fair few of us including myself i reckon would have been chasing the Tailor or Bonito , and don't get me wrong they are great fun as iv'e filmed a few great little sessions recently check out (flickinlures on youtube) but to target the bottom feeding flatty fillets at $25/kg underneath all that mayhem is something that i would have never contemplated before reading this great report cheers Mark
  23. Gotta say it's probably happened to all of us at different times throughout our fishing careers and it certainly has happened to me on many occasions , guys like this aren't worth the time or even putting yourself at risk of being hurt because they took exception to what you so rightly would have said to these knobs , photos and video are a great resource and make compelling viewing on youtube . But one thing we should all take out of this thread is not to target any particular group of people and post it on this site , it is irrelevant where you may come from or what race you are ,there are KNOBS everywhere and from all creeds .
