Nice Report Young Gun... Nice stripey aye... Just like dogtooth said i woulda put one of them down as bait... You never know aye i have caught some solid fish on big live baits... Oh about those pesky birds, you gotta doo the old switcharoo, chuck some pillies one way and then drop one straight by the boat... fools em every time... But next time you go out get a few yakkas in the live well and maybe some bonnie strips.. i have actually heard about allot of good dollies being snagged within a 500m-1km radius of the fad... If you want any more advice or some productive traps i know of send us a pm... also i heard there is this guy who used to live down your way and he knows about his dollies, i will try hook you up with him... But he did say he was very keen to hit that fads with you boys easter holidays... p.s. your signiture should be "once you caught a kingy you are beyond the point of return", not no return... hahah Gd luck in your upcoming trip and keep me informed... i hope uni is going well for you too.. I fished Pittwater on Sunday and managed a rat and my mates two more however one legal was landed... It went just size 68cm... i have never caught rats until this season I have to say im not too dissapointed about the number of rats around at the moment because i know they have to grow and when they are legal i will be there o catch them... and thats when i will know it was all worth it... I have had a few instances like this latley in the Pittwater... I find when the kings are like this, which is often at this time of year, if they are not taking lures... If they are not miving too fast chuck a handfull of burley, pilchards and they should come in and have a look and then hook up on a just bigger than a yakka hook a little and i mean tenticle of a squid and put it in the middle of the burley and then hold on... Um i recon they are feeding on the little white bait things or eyes... Recently all the salmon, kings and bonnies have been spittting it when i catch em.... Hope this helps SquidKing Combo

Hi Raiders Thought i would give you an insight to my fishing in Pittwater over the last couple of weeks... Firstly i would like to ask, Where are all the squid? Over my last four or so sessions my mates and i have spent at least 3 hrs per trip in pursuit of these kingie sweets but have been unsuccessful everytime bar one where we got a little squid... I would love to hear how other raiders are going with squid in Pitty... Secondly, despite being unsuccessful with only one live squid last week me and two mates headed out... pulled up at our favourite mooring and started burleying hard... within ten minutes or so we had our first hook up on a little rat king on our squiding gear we were using for yakkas... put on abit of a fight but came up really small at like 55cm... We managed one more at this size and regardless of its size proved an achievment... we then put down the live squid we worked so hard for... withn five minutes my mate had a king on his billion dollar fandangle setup, saragossa 18000 and jigwrex, but despite its capable 22kg of drag pressure was busted off... i couldnt help but laught as he gives me so much crap when i use my fpluger torsion 80... haha my only comment "what did that 22kg of drag pressure do for you!" Anyways continued to burley, then i had a touch, then another and another on a yakka i had down... i brought it up to see if i had lost it and as it approached the surface so did a school of kings all around the 60cm mark... once again out comes the light outfits, 4lb braid and 8lb leader and on goes poppers, pilchards, knifejigs, sluggos, etc... lots of follows but not a touch... then i put on a yakka hook and on goes a squid tentacle and within seconds onto a decent king not legal but hard work on light gear... Soon enough all three of us were on and having a ball... I droped two and landed two and my mate landed one... Our biggest was 63cm... Then i got another king on my heavy outfit on a squid head... Not a bad effort consideriing a wreck bellow and such light gear... Anyways the kings died off and then went and chased some bonnies and had abit of fun... What can i say that was one of our best days fishing yet, despite no legals... Thirdly, 3 days ago me and two other mates, one a rookie went out again in Pittwater in search of kings... Tried again for squid but nothing after 3hrs so decided to head out for a troll around barrenjoey... As we passed he head we ran into a massive and by massive i mean massive...hahah... school of salmon.... Soon enough we were pulling massive salmon and bonnies out from the school... They were very enertaining for 2hrs and managed 15 massive ones, 5 of which i am turning into fish curry and fish cakes... My other rooki mate was estatic at the fish and had a ball puytting him onto them... yew So over the last couple of weeks i have had a great couple of sessions in Pittwater, definately ones to remmember... Im heading to fiji next week after completing the HSC... Yew... Im pretty keen... Im heading to Sigatoka to: 1) Dive with the sharks 2) Catch some big fish I know where the big sharkies are and hopefully will survive the experience... However im having trouble finding on the net a gd charter or place in general in which i could hit up for a sly doggy or bute gt... If anyone could mention some places i would be fair stocked.... That is such a gun effort gd work... I'm guessing the kingies were schooling up on the surface... Those two bigger ones would have put on a great fight... I have always wanted to try fly for kings im thinking that could be nxt seasons goal... Just out of curiosity what fly did u use? Congratz again on those decent kings... SquidKing Combo

Well i have seen a cuttle bite one of my mates and ink at the same time... It has left him with a blue natural tatooo.... It was soo funny couldnt stop laughing... But in relation to kings... Ive never managed to get a hit on cuttles in the Pittwater only calis... But hey maybe i havent given them as much of a chance... I also heard from someone the otherday that you should take the cuttle out of them before baiting them up....Is this a gd thing to do or not... Cheers SquidKing Combo

Well as it usually happens... We just started to chill out and take our mind off the rods when my mates saragosa spooled with 65 lb braid to 30 lb leader had a hit... He picked it up but the fish seemed tro have let go... He loosend the drag thinking that the kingy might have been scared of due to the drag pressure... But sure enough the kingy came back hit hard and due to my mate backing the drag off, it just sped off taking a fair bit of line... he tried to tighten it but by that stage the king had wraped him round the reef... Doesnt matter a lesson learnt... To those haeding out in the Pittwater, gd luck im pretty sure this should be a gd season... haha devo for loosing anchor me and my mate did smae thing at longy one day... but we lost it after trying to drag it out and snapping the front of the boat supporting the chain off... expensive trip... haha yer it is pretty shallow so i tghink that is the go keep the drag tight... i run 65 lb main line to 50lb leader so should not be a problem... oh and unfortuantley no kings were boated.. until next time Cheers SquidKing Combo

Hey Fishraiders Thought i would shoot a report your way in reference to the fishing in Pittwater as of late... I have been out in Pittwater around the moorings wharfs etc. chasing squid for bait but more importantly dinner over the last couple of weeks... I have been successfull with some ok arrows and cali however did not have any luck with kings... However today was a different story... Me and my fellow KC's hit the water early and went in search of squid... and squid we found... i managed to wrangle three quality squid over the kilo mark hood size from 32-36cm in under an hour... I was verry happy.... But they were too big for Kings well thats what we thought... Anyways we peristed for another perfect size bait cali squid and multiple cuttles... We then headed to the king spot... We set up and soon enough had our first hit and got busted off... then a second however spat the hook... we also had a king or two in our burley trail... It was a fun day all in all and i am sooooooooooooooooo keen to sit down and have fresh cali for dinner tonight... yew Its gd too see the kingies are starting to hot up... Cheers SquidKing Combo

Hello fellow fish raiders I was just wondering around what time do the kingy schools start up again.... I can remember last season they were around in numbers during November but am curious to when they start to show their presence.... That's a tad annoying... But I do have to say there are still fish to be caught... Headed down to Roseville the other day to greet a kyack fisherman he showed me a nice 75cm Jew then he proceed to show me a salmon and also another jewfish he caught the week before on his camera... He was just flicking plastics... So I have proof that they are still there... Cheers Squidking Combo
