  1. I have seen Saqa's work on this site & he obviously puts in 150% and they look fantastic. I am located in Brisbane so if you are ever up this way send me a PM so I can check one out in the Flesh. I purchased a Daiwa Battler Sparrow for $340 yesterday so I'm pretty happy with that for now at least ...... there is always next week.... Thanks Guys. Matt
  2. Well a new reel has arrived so I'm looking for a 1-3 kg max for flicking small softies around the Racks and what not. Line will be 2lb to 6lb and I would like to keep the price under $300. I have a 2-5kg Nitro & could end up with a lighter version unless someone can deter me ...... Thanks Matthead
  3. Such a difficult decision to make, I've never been a Daiwa man myself but have spoke to a few converts who claim the Sol is an awesome reel for the money........ It would be good if reels were like cars and you could test drive them for while ...... maybe borrow one over the weekend or something. I don't think it's gonna be an easy decision but one I'm gonna have to make. Thanks Matt
  4. I can get both 2500 reels for around the same price so the question is which one is better quality & value? I will mainly be using the reel for medium plastics work and small hard body's for Bream, Squire and Flathead. Is there a Fishraider out there with both reels, or maybe the topic has been covered already.
  5. If you have $200, you can get a 2500 Stradic for $185 so that leaves $15 for your line. If you want an all rounder and are using heavier soft plastics then the 4000 series is only $229 and would be a lot better for more situations. If like me you are a Shimano fan then you cant go wrong for that money, the 10 year warranty is some peace of mind and the smoooooooth as silk drag is sweet........ so buy em both!!!!!!! Happy Shopping Matt
  6. Started out from the Esplanade at 6am and headed up to some of our favourite spots and I soon had a small Bar-Tailed Flattie. After about an hour drifting over the top of some rocks beneath us I soon realised it was all about my friend who has been fishing with me a grand total of 5 times (beginners luck.... yeah right!!!). His first fish was a 25cm Jack, a fish I've been looking forward to catching for about a year now!!! After I had expertly chopped 10" from my Berkley Dropshot rod with the Jig Head while casting, I made a comment to my mate that he would probably go and catch his first Flathead on it ......... Yep you guessed it a 55cm Flathead nailed the Gulp and gave him a good battle. He then landed a 30cm Bream and a smaller Flathead, all with the snapped Dropshot. After 2 hours passed I was getting desperate and we decided to have a quick flick around Avon wreck ........ no joy there either!!!! By this time I was feeling a little dejected and had to catch some fish before we had to leave. On the way back to the ramp I notice a nice litte sandbar and decided to float around there for a bit. Bingo!!! I was in to a small Flattie but I lost it due to a blunt hook .... I must get a sharpening stone and super glue it to my head!! I hooked and landed 3 other small flatties and severely saved my Bacon. In total we had 8 fish in a session which had everything from a snapped rod, blunt hooks and my mates first Flattie. All fish returned alive and kicking. I'll post pics as soon as I get them. Matt
  7. Hi there ozeash, I have the same setup but in a 7ft 1-3kg. Very light and powerful, and for the money you can't go wrong. I paid $50 for my Aernos in a sale so I'm pretty chuffed with it, you won't be dissapointed. It casts just as far as my Nitro / Stradic combo and I've caught plenty of Bream up to 40cm, Flatties up to 60cm, Squire up to 55cm and Long Toms up to 80cm ........ Tried and tested and can say it goes 5 Stars in my book. Good Purchase
  8. Yeah.....Yeah, Excuses excuses ........ I am still fick though, but getting better. I guess this is my Tertiary education.
  9. Finally, got a bit sick of getting 7 all the time ...... 9 this time so I'm pretty happy with that.
  10. Cheers loomylover, will definately consider it. What happens with the warranty (how long) on a quantum because I read somewhere (i will pm you where if you want) that parts for the reels are near impossible to get hold of and I can't find out how long the warranty is. Also will the Jap Twin Power have a ten year warranty servicable in Austalia? Cheers Matt
  11. 7/10 for the third day running I think....... that I probably am a mid-table team ..... in short I'm pretty fick
  12. Thanks guys for your words of wisdom ... think I may stick my Nitro's, after all .... better the devil you know than the one you don't. I do like the look and feel of the Loomis but I can't buy a rod on that alone.
  13. Thanks for the replies, guess i'm still undecided for now.....until i go into the tackle shop and see em both again, staring at me ...... calling me.....
  14. I'm Fick again....... oh well time to go fishing and forge everything.
  15. If you will be fishing Bribie: As you cross the bridge you will see some Hire boats on the left ready to go. This Guy gets there at 6am and finishes up about 5pm. Hire costs $40 for a four hour stint (including juice for the 5hp motor) or $60 for the whole 11 hours (how's that for value). I have hired a boat from this guy and he is a top bloke and also in the know when it come to the fishing. I don't work for him .. but expect a freebie next time I go up there..... As for fishing from the land you will be very hard pushed to do better than Bongaree Jetty or Red Beach which both produce fish on a somewhat regular basis but when you can get a boat for that sort of money I don't know why you would bother????
