  1. Daiwa saltist or exceller 4500 or 6500
  2. You running very light drags on the lures? I have thought about it, using circles on the lures, have'nt tried yet but must give it go!.......... We normally go alright on hook-up conversion on normal stiff-rigs....single or double-hook....., can't seem to pry-away from that convention.. Wack'
  3. I have both.............Makaira and Tiagra........Both have been excellent. I lent my Tiagra to a mate who has now moved to JB and my reel along with him! So right now I'm running a Makaira and I have to say, it has already done it's duty on Blue marlin, Bluefin Tuna, a small yellowfin and some big kings in NZ........never missed a beat and what a spectacular drag!........when you try it you'll know what i mean..... You won't go wrong with either......so pick-one or run both! Wacko.
  4. Thanks guys! Hey Pred-Ator: The whole time the boat was in transit, I was peaking about the electric motor issue......is the boat too big?, will the electric's shaft even make it to the water?, will it move it around?..........all these questions were answered when the boat arrived here ( and after much research!). Basically, I went for the I-Pilot 80lb with the longest shaft possible (65inch)........it has PLENTY of get up and go and moves the boat around with ease.....I went for 2x 120amp batteries just incase I needed to run the electric on full power all the time (which I don't)........it has surprised me how well a 6.6mtr boat moves around with the agility of a bass boat! BTW, the Shaft 'just' makes it to the water.....I have a bout an inch to spare.....so you gotta measure the Boats bow to waterline to see if an electric will fit. The fuel tank on my rig is 300 litres! and yes, even when it is full, and gear, and 4 anglers....the electric has power in reserve! I'm sure these new I-pilots are way 'gruntier' than the old models.....Go I-PILOT 100% Wacko.
  5. Good going fellas on your first beakie!!! The 'odd' one-out outfit on my boat trolling for marlin these days, is a 20size Makaira overhead on a rollered rod.....everything else is jigging gear and Big spin set-ups, heaps of fun!.....we've nailed a few nice Blues on these outfits way over the shelf, so they are certainly not 'toys' in the gamefishing scene... Wacko.
  6. Hi ABCFisho, Nah, not that big! I wish!!! Just the camera angle...... Wack'
  7. Hi Everyone! Its been a very long time since ive posted any reports on here! Very busy mainly due to work and house stuff but it's good to be back and catch up with you fellas.....and ladies! I'll keep it brief so here goes................ This time last year I took delivery of a very nice center console boat named "HONEY II"..................she is a Seacraft 22ft Glass' CC with a big bad 225HP Merc on the ass end, with every thanks for helping with the import goes to BILLY D, legend!.........the reason why I mention the boat is it's about the best "ALL ROUNDER" i have ever come across in my years of owning numerous boats....and boating with other friends. She has allowed me to access the sandflats to drift for bream and whiting poppering the day away, cruise the rockwalls of the hawkesbury with the I-Pilot Electric throwing plastics at jewfish, downrigg and slow troll for big Kings, anchor and set cube trails for snapper, yet at the same time head way, way offshore in search of Yellowfin and Bluefin tuna and offcourse, my favourite, BEAKIES!!!! So, after that spiel........I have come to the conclusion that this boat has helped score some fantastic recent captures and I;m looking forward to many many more! Call us on the water for a fishing chat! Channel 21 or 67...."HONEY II" Heres a few pics.......... Big Rig..... Little Black we got last week in 40mtrs off water on a slimey... Big late arvo kings on livebaits 2 weeks ago... Hawkesbury jewies on plastic and light string...(6lb leaders) Hawkesbury snappers with Big Bad RayR! Some of recent notable captures......hope to see you out there! Cheers, Wacko.
  8. Hi guys, Heres the video for some of the bluefin caught on Reef Magic and our own boats. Love the big fish surface hits! Good vid to watch when the weather is crap and you cant get out! Cheers, Wacko.
  9. Thankyou to the boys at Reef Magic for a brilliant day! and a big thanks to Adrian for the invite! Awesome fishing when you can sight cast and catch these beasts on poppers and stickbaits 10mtrs from the back of the boat. I'll put up a more detailed report with video of the fish smashing the stickbaits on the surface, as soon as possible. Cheers, Wacko.
  10. Hey Billy, they dont call them thirsty Mercs for nothing!!! hahahah....only joking.....I always take spare fuel.....even if the big tank is full to the brim....just something I've always done......and spare oil too.... Cheers, Wack'
  11. Cheers Damo...............you boys are Smashing it!! You finding they are not taking cubes as well?......not that it really matters, especially when you can get them on jigs, troll etc ect......just interested cause' last season, we caught fin' on the cube rather then trolling.... Point being....at least they are here to catch! Wacko.
  12. Hi guys, Yep, we got into em' as well on Sunday off Sydney. We were approx 8 miles to the north and well east of Browns, when our trolled lures got monstered by fin'. We had a school of them around the boat to ourselves and got them on jigs....but they would'nt take a cube, only a moving 'bait'. Fish were between 35kg and 65kg.......also got Albacore on the Jigs and troll home. What a great day! Glad Sydney is having a run........but where are the yellowfin?? This guy weighed 65kg.......looked smaller to me on the boat but industrial electronic scales dont lie! Cheers, Wacko.
  13. Hi mate, We were wide off the bait station for a few hours...then, yes............eventually fished that patch of warm water inside the shelf (right into the 70mtr mark).......total score 0-0-0.............tells the story. Wacko.
  14. Top stuff mate!!! Well done Looks good on the boat... Dont' be offended but I'll add my two cents......Theres no way you will hold position with 'spot-lock' at the FADS or the Peak in any sort of current or wind greater than 5knots..... The Minn Kota will try it's dammned hardest to hold you there.....but 80lbs of thrust aint gonna hold you offshore in a sea.... You can prove me wrong if you want! I'd like to see video of that motor holding postion outside.....if It does I'll get one!!!! It's a weapon motor for inshore stuff though Cheers, Wacko.
  15. Big honker bream mate!!!!! Great stuff!! Wacko.
