    Sunken boat

gday rick, the boat was at the peak in sydney. I dont understand why they continued if the boat had water in it. Mad story and very lucky, rods are still in the rocket launcher.

    Bate Bay

Nice yowie, they certainly are around at the moment.
  5. You get flatties north or south, doesnt really matter. Just have to know where they are. Trawlers arnt allowed to trawl east of Sydney. None of the sydney fleet trawl off the beaches, so the pros arnt to blame.
  6. Gday all, good day on the water today but jeez it was cold this morning and a nice sou wester to back it up. Got out the heads to a great looking 2-3M southerly swell and went north . Stopped in 60M and basically drifted south but only around half a knot wind held us up a bit and by 1030 wind and current equalised and we went nowhere lol. Anyway the flatties are heavily on the chew and we had them all day, biggest at 50. They are also in roe. Thank god the barracuda have sort of moved on, only managed to decapitate two today, they have been in plague proportiin over the last few weeks. Also 2 yowie fish and 4 pan sized snapper and a couple of trevs. Water was a nice blue and sat at 17.3 all day although the fish were coming up warm. Most of the fish were all caught on squid.
  7. Wizza, nah dont clean as i go. Just drop em in a slurry. Generally clean everything at sea, dont like doing it at the ramp, too many eyes and questions.
  8. Landbased, used to fish the southern end near imax and west side , harbourside.
  9. Reel' em in, the system is known as the Tasman Sea. That big ocean off Sydney?. ARC H, just pillies, prawns and a fresh occy.
  10. Dont get ya knixkers in a knot, 1yellowfin caught today nothing special.
  11. Thanks boys wasnt tooo bad, just kept the two sambos. Might have to start catch and release for a while as cases of Carlton Draught are looking scary.
  12. I have fished Darling Harbour for years, please do not beleive the hype over "Do not eat fish West of the bridge" What a load of sh!#. If you truly beleive fish sit in one area all their lives then keep beleiving, you will win lotto tomorrow. All this crap started when they wanted to move the pros out, now you are unable to get the best school prawn in Australia, Sydney Harbour Schoolies. If the Bastar#s dont have two heada then eat them. The amount of Mud Crabs, bream and kingies i have taken home to eat from the Southern and Western sides of DH going by the dont eat fish BS i should be dead!. People tend to read and believe to much, without the full picture.
  13. Morning all, another great morning to be out but my god still cant feel my fingers. Wind has finally dropped after blowing all morning easy 10knots from the west. Not a great deal of current or swell, half a metre from the south and a bit of wind chop across the top, as i type everything is dropping. Fish are here but very slow on the bite and water temp has been steady all morning at 19.3 and greeny blue. Have managed to pull a feed of snapper, mowies, flatties, pig fish, trevally and 2 small samsons. Big Snapper went 61. Just fishing in the 50s had to move around a bit due to toads.
  14. DaveBM, nah m8 a catamaran. Saw the red one steamin home. Farvos, yes m8 keeps the neighbours happy. The bloke i fish with, his missus hates us fishing. Yet shell ring him up about an hour into things and ask if shes got dinner yet. Loves her fish but hates us getting them.. go figure. Regan, just no courtesy. If he had of lost steering we were gone! ARC H, thanks m8. blaxland, nah we were fishin 50M just off Manly. Went deeper first but came in closer because of toads.
  15. Gday all, late report. Sunday morning was a bit on the chilly side with little swell about, and not much current to boot either. We just drifted with the wind. Things were slow all day especially with the moon, but the fish were there. Some pan sized snapper about a few Yowie fish and stumbled across a patch of nice blue spots. Literally caught them all in one drift. Still a few whales about, at one stage we had 2 headed towards us with a number of boats that descended upon us. One whale boat and a trailer boat passed by within 10M of us. Both getting a mouthful about how close they were to us let alone their close proximity to the whales which was far less than the min of 100M. Anyway nice morning out, the wind getting stronger from the west as the day wore.
  16. Nah rick , .8-1kn south. Was a dead whale called over the radio. Just saw the footage last night, thresher and a quite a few tigers off it. Just off Sydney.
  17. Gday all , went wide today for a drop a Browns. Anyway cut a long story short , no fin around. Virtually a handful of boats around, gues they all got scared off by the various weather reports lol. Left the heads at 5, to pitch black and what seemed two swells coming at us the main seemed se which was easy 2M at times. Bit of wind around had 10Kn of westerley early and it stayed with us the day changed fo sw out wide. By 11 wind had died. Not a great deal of current out wide . 8-1kn dead south. Inside 200M current is everywhere at a knot, then drops inside the 12 and got worse as did the wind closer to shore. Radio very quiet although someone was yakkin about a dead whale off Broken Bay with a few good Noahs on it. Speaking of whales saw around 20 today all inside 80M coming home. No reports of fin anywhere.
  18. Would differ every day.
  19. As mentioned Bluefin going off at Bermi, boat yesterday had a 5 way hookup. Fish schooling around boats today, most in 25kg range. Yellowfin caught the other day went 68kg off Sydney.
  20. Gday all bit of a late report. Beautiful morning Sunday not a cloud but jeez that winter chill gets ya. Headed out the front to a half metre south swell and virtually no current basically just drifted west with the wind which didnt get past 15 kn all day. Once you headed past 65M current started and was downhill at .7kn. Water still warm at 20° but green. Fish are still on the chew and still getting snapper about a 3 to 1 keeper ratio. Fish bit all morning and ended up with a good feed of snapper, flatties, trevs, mowies and pigs. Most of the flatties were all above 50 and all with meat on them. All fish were taken on pillies didnt want nothing to do with prawns or squid. Plenty of whales about got pestered by them all day lol. Heaps of bait on the surface all day just getting harrassed by gannets all day but didnt see anything busting up through them. All in all a good but chilly day on the water.
  21. Nearly lost half my nose, due to one that begun as what i thought was a blind pimple. Didnt go away and a M8 kept pestering me to get it looked at....us males .. yeah shell be right M8. Relinquished and went to the doc, two days later had a hole through one side of my nose and a skin graft from near ear. Also had two cut out of driving arm that left scars 50mm long side by side. Looks like i had a double rigged marlin lure stuck in my arm. Thats the story anyway. If sus get it checked!
  22. Nice feed of blackies Burnsy. Black trevally in NSW and yes Happy Moment in Qld. The prawn trawlers get a few in their nets. Remedies for them are quite numerous and funny. The most used is WD40 on the other side drink a bottle of you favourite spirit!
  23. Went wide today, weather odd to say the least. Noticed a bit or lightning to sea on the way to the boat. Harbour had a light.souwester on it. Went through the heads around 4am and was hit bit a rather sloppy se swell. Wind got stronger straight southerly up around 20kn and pissin rain. Stopped for a while at the nine.mile to rethink but continued on didnt get any better, but lightning hitting the water in our intended area was a bit unnerving and some strikes to close for comfort. Tons of sauries followed the boat light, many bouncing of the side of the boat lol, Love the way they appear and their blue colour. Water temps at 23.7 and the current is raging south at 3.5kn. Amazing thing was no life except a huge school of dollies easy 15-20kg swimming with the boat. We threw everything at them, no takers. Tried to freegaff but just out of reach lol Rain died, wind died and by daybreak we had passed through it and were way over the shelf. Swell had dropped to almost glass. Couldnt find what we came for so came home. Heres a last late shot of the tail end of the school.
