  1. Great catch of mixed fish, was great weather to be out yesterday Enjoy. Chris.
  2. Hi Raiders Headed out today with Meng (gonfishing) to drift for flathead down South. The drifts were awesome and the flathead were plentiful once found, pulling up two at a time on most drops. Bait used was squid strips and pilchard cubes on a paternoster rig with a 6oz sinker. We gathered our bag limits really quick and then spent the rest of the day gathering some squid and trying our luck with the snapper. We came across a good patch of squid and managed to get a really good feed which we were stoked about. Only managed one snapper that was in the 30's losing a few good snapper to the reefs. It was great to be out on the water today. Conditions were great and the leatherjackets weren't of any trouble on the drift. Chris

  7. Had a read few years back about there mercury content in the gem fish but i also read up on other species and i think the morwong was very high in mercury more so than gem fish? In saying that i target them only once a season and enjoy there delicate fillets, can,t wait to bring some home soon. Sure will be nice to hear other raider opinions? Chris.

  10. Thanks Kingfisher84 and Dfishin thought it was a worm. Have never seen one in all the flattie fillets I have cleaned in the past, will be putting liquid combantrim in my live well from now on to clean them out before I take them home .
  11. Hi Raiders Filleting my catch from yesterday and found this moving around on my flathead fillet. It's around 3cm long and I'm thinking a worm but I have never seen one before in a fish. Would love to hear from anyone who has seen this before and knows what it is. Chris
  12. Hi Raiders Finished work early today and met up with my good mate Basil (Groper) for a flathead drift as the winds were low and its a feed we haven't had for a while. Got to the ramp at 2.30pm and headed straight past Jibbon Bommie and started our drift. Had a good laugh because if there wasn't a bite on the first drop Basil kept saying "let's move". I think he was more eager than me to find the flathead. We found a good patch and marked them on the sounder and we gathered a good feed before sundown. The jackets are there but not as bad as they were in previous weeks. Shared our feed at the boat ramp and we were both very happy with what we caught in such a short space of time. It was a mixed bag of Tiger Flathead and Bluespot Flathead. All caught using squid bait. Chris
  13. Congratulations on a cracker snapper and pb . Bet the adrenalin kicked in on the blistering runs on that tackle set up,great work on the catch . Chris.
  14. Great going was awesome to watch the vid Was using the nuc chicken grubs there on Saturday for nil,our fish all came on bait so I guess having both bait and plastics out covers all chances of a hook up. What ramp did you guys use , we put in at bellambie??? Chris.
