  1. Your in the right area for a big red. Try to fish light weighted baits and plastics. Anchor and berley if you can and drift a whole pillie down the trail. if not drift over your mark and cast in the direction of your drift. less weight is better for big reds.
  2. This is a Wahoo This is a Spanish Mac Both these were caught at SWR. A bit smaller than yours but I think they show the difference. Ive spent a lot of time at SWR over the last 25 years and it's just like any other location, sometimes the fish dont play ball!! It's harder on a charter boat to get 10 fishermen a great fish, more so if light game fishing. If you were in a tinnie with a mate and caught that fish it would be a great days fishing! Small concillation I know when you fork out the extra dollors, but thats fishin!
  3. I'm heading to Norfolk Island on 14th october to 21st october. I have booked the Jacksons for 3 days fishing while over there. Boat takes 6 and there is 3 of us so far! Any raiders interested in comin send me a pm and I will give you all the info. Cheers Brett

  6. G'day raiders Fished in the lower Hawkesbury River yesterday and pulled a few Jewies. My mate Dave (spooled again) did quite well, landing these 7.5kg & 8.5kg jewies. He also Landed 10 other smaller jews between 50cm & 60cm that were released.

  14. G'day Lala That looks like a watsons leaping bonito next to those jewies you think ?
  15. G'day Raiders I went to SWR last weekend with a couple of mates Mick & Blake. Friday arvo we started off in the mackleay river chasin jews with herring, no luck for us but i weighed an 11kg model for a fellow angler at the boat ramp. Next morning we strugled to get livies so then we trolled skirts to fish rock & the FAD. picked up a stripy & mac tuna before havin some fun with the little dollies. We tried our luck for a jew again and Mick scored his very first. a nice 9kg model. Next morning after all the reports we headed down with every other boat to get some spotties. (52 boats) & us at grassy head & just about every one of them getting fish too. we ended up getting 4 to 4kg and dropping another 8. One last attempt at the jewies produced a 2.2kg mangrove jack for Mick. Cheers Brett
  16. G'day Poacher i just got back myself from swr (last weekend) & we were prob one of those 50 odd boats you fished with. we got 4 spotties to 4kg walking livies & dropped about 8. there were plenty of dollies at the fad as well, prob because all the boats were at grassy. and we got a 5kg mac tuna at fish rock. so a very similar trip mate.
  17. I think i see a pattern forming here.(going fishin more often, catching more fish) well done and happy birthday fellas. cheers brett
  18. Here is a few pics of our trip waynie. we'll get em next time mate.
  19. G'day Byron Happy new year to you as well mate, yes lets get out and have a fish in 2010. send me or waynie a pm when you think a big jew might be lurking about & we will go catch him eh. we might have to go out in your boat as it will be more comfy for your back i think, (no seats in my centre consol boat, only an esky to sit on).
  20. your dead right mate (time & effort). im lucky in that i knock off work at 2pm mon to thurs & 11;30am fridays so i have plenty of afternoons to test all tides & suss out spots to fish. but it wasnt always the case, i remember my brother in law & i had the HH to brake, (hawkesbury hoodoo). plenty of catfish & eel trips till we learnt about big fresh bait. im also lucky to have an understanding wife that accepts my passion to land a 30kg jew.
  21. G'day Marcel you were in fact fishing the incomeing tide from 2am to daylight. & from the sounds of it that is the right tide ? im not sure myself as i dont fish the harbour or para river that much. but i do know that the best layed plans dont always produce results, you just have to keep at it and it will happen. also at the moment if you want to catch jewfish u should try the lower hawkesbury . a friend of mine fished the run out today from daylight to midday and caught 8 jew with a few keepers. i also fished last monday , tuesday & wednesday and got jew each day fishin flint n steel, gunyah & rail bridge. didnt get that big one but we got plenty of school fish up to 3kg. cheers brett
  22. G'day bolts i fished f&s on fri for a 10lb jew, & last tues i got 5 jew up to 7lb at the bridges. i also know of a young fella who picked up a 5kg fish on sat arvo while flicking for flathead.
  23. G'day Peter ominous looking cloudscapes mate, well done cheers brett
  24. yes Mrs Flightmanager, god knows how long these formations will last. This shot below of the Island arch had a arch between the 2 pillars the day before i captured this image, the weather was so bad it was pointless attempting a photograph, so i thought no worries i will come back tomorrow. But alas the 7 metre seas rocked the pillars and brought down the arch the night before this shot.
