  1. I was in that exact spot on Saturday morning in a 3.7 metre tinny
  2. I have found fishing the upper reaches of the Georges River after rain just produces Eels. The fish tend to look for saltier water as the water becomes too fresh, they seem to head out towards the bay's and oceans. If the water is murky in the river i think you are wasting your time, try fishing east of como.
  3. I think Wraps relates to the thickness of the fibreglass used, so if thats true the 7 wrap would have to be the stronger out of the two.
  4. From memory it's a high mount for an eggbeater, Im sure it would be as i had a Daiwa GS-9 Eggbeater to go on it.
  5. Mine is a 7144, I might put it on "the famous online shop"
  6. I worked in a fishing shop in Sydney for a long time and havent had much to do with tackle and gear since. As soon as you mentioned MT7144 it rang a bell as back in the late 90's early 00's it was the serious fisho's first choice beach rod. It is a Pacific Composites blank, I built many custom one's years ago. I also have a nice 2 piece Snyderglas similar to the above rod sitting around. I wanted one for years but I have never used it!
  7. I know the MT7144 is a fantastic surf blank. If you do a lot of surf fishing you should get a MT7144 custome made, I have never heard of the Agazaie brand
  8. Chances are he won't spend much time away, if any, and we will continue to bust our back sides to pay for his welfare cheque every fortnight. Karma will get this scumbag.

    Nissan Xtrail

The first series of them used to burn through gearboxes when under load, I would avoid them due to this only but this is the older one's, the newer ones should have improved. Subaru have just release a Forester Diesel, Otherwise the Suzuki Grand Vitara is good in the diesel spec and is great off road.
  10. I have a little 12' Stessco with a 15hp Suzuki and it generally takes 15-20 mins to cover that section. I went out on Saturday morning, fished about 3 hours for 1 undersize bream and a very big stick. I'm just about giving up on the river for winter now, thats three trips with similar results.
  11. Good to know someone else noticed too!! It's pretty disappointing if they have advertised in this manner, i know this sort of thing happens all the time but it's not good to say that regulations have changed to sell their product.
  12. Thanks Huey, If you have the latest Fishing Monthly magazine, in the product review section there is an ad for the new Mercury jackets. The ad states "as of 1st July 2010 all people in a boat of 4.8m or less in NSW are required to wear a life jacket at all times". Not seeing or hearing this anywhere else has made it confusing and I'm wondering if it is Mercury's way of scaring people into buying their product, if so its quite disappointing.
  13. Hi there everyone. In the last few months I have seen magazine advertisements state that if you are in a boat under 4.8m you must wear a life jacket at all times from 1st July 2010. I have searched the Maritime website and other Media and not seen anything in relation to this. Does anyone know either way if its true? Or is it a way for the Manufacturers of the auto-inflating jackets to sell their products? Fishing Monthly advertised a new Mercury product that inflates if you hit the water and says it will be a requirement to wear one "at all times", hence the reason they are plugging theirs as its a more comfortable jacket to wear.
  14. Get the wet weather gear out and still go fishing
  15. Hi, Unfortunately that budget probably wont even cover a gimbal belt and terminal tackle. You are better to slowly get the gear second hand as you need it and miss the season to have the right stuff. Spend a bit more and buy it once rather than spending a bit less and having to upgrade every 6 months. If you want some used reels I have a few you may be interested in that I no longer use. I have a used TLD25, A Daiwa Sealine (never used) or if you are after a tough egg-beater I have a tough as nails Daiwa GS-9. Shoot me a pm or call me on 0406 684 237 if you are interested. Maybe look for used Penn spinfishers if you have to have a egg-beater as they are also pretty tough, the Penn and Daiwa (in my opinion) are good hard bodied, tough reels that will handle being dropped on rocks and both have the line capacity you will need.
