  1. I fish alot around the gong as its a guaranteed catch every time and good sizes but this particular spot i was at was the coal terminal.
  2. Went with a mate down to the gong yesterday out at Port Kembla, land based. Still appears to be alot of good sized salmon and bonitos around but also a mixed bag. Caught quite a few flatties, snapper, trevally and a few lil rock-looking-cods suprisingly but all of which were unfortunately under sized, though i am sure they were glad to live another day. Was pleased to come across a couple of kingies but they were undersized too. Caught my first fish using soft plastics but most were caught on the good ole pillies and squid. The conditions were great with the sun shining, lil wind and calm ocean, i couldnt have asked for a better day but the temp sure dropped as the sun went down.
  3. yeah, they always seem to be around without fail.
  4. Yes but like i mentioned earlier, its a fair walk. Then when you could imagine a fair walk... its a lil further more!!
  5. To be honest i dont know if its the inner or outer but im sure someone here could tell u exactly. Bear in mind the opening and closing times of the gate. They arent sign posted but the earliest ive been there is bout a lil after 7am leaving by 5pm. Entry was fine then but then ive been there later on in the morning on a few occasions before where the gates were shut!
  6. Sure is, past the sewer works and down the long road along the coast line.
  7. Went there 1 week and they were shut but we were prepared. Had a couple of bikes and a lil trailer set up off the bike to carry all our gear. Lately most of the time the gates have been open but ive noticed its been a lil later on in the morning.
  8. Down at the Coal Terminal. The access is pretty good provided the front gates are open otherwise you're in for a loooonnngg walk! All i can say is thank god for trollies
  9. Come on mate, u sure those flatties were real?!! Saw something similar to that size up in Cairns... apparently they're called crocs up that way! Awesome stuff boys.
  10. My rod & reel isn't anything too flash... a 12ft graphite rod combined with the daiwa reel but they sure work well together. The tank looks a bit "howz ur father" but it does the job nicely
  11. Fished down Wollongong way last weekend and had a great day land based. Caught my first of a few kings and some bonnies, salmon and flatties. Lost 2 other kings, 1 of which appeared to be close to a metre(prob wasn't but it sure looked like it was close to it!) but it busted my hook off as i pulled it up over the rocks. Lost 2 other good sized bonitos as well. Quite a few other fish were returned as i had caught enough fish already to feed the family. The kingy i did keep measured 72cms and 2 others that were caught were rats around 50-60cms so were again thrown back 2 fight another day. The salmon measured 85cms and the bonnie was 81cms. Tried my first livie tank set up and worked a treat. Ended up not having to use a 2kg bag of pilchards! Fish weren't record size but was still a great enjoyable day Overall was pretty pleased with myself catchin a kingy even though it wasn't anything to write home about but what really was funny is that one bloke was tellin me it was a salmon and was lookin at me strangely as i mustve been pretty stoked with excitement. He walked away sayin to someone else... "It was just a salmon"! Forgot to mention also it was a day for blackfishers also. There were schools of them just hangin round the weed.
  12. There was a small school of them cruisin around down at Coal Terminal yeasterday but could not tempt them. They were chasing the bait fish i was catching but didn't seem to wanna eat them
  13. i saw that same kingy back in NZ around new years! Poor fular swam all that way! That is an awesome catch bro
  14. That's gold!! Nice one mate. Borrowed a mate's boat one time and started panicking cos i couldnt seem to get the boat off (was a busy ramp and didnt want to upset anyone). Some bloke shouted out, "You've still got the bottom bracket on mate"! Bloody embarrassing i tell ya
  15. One thing u should be proud about dingo is the amount of replies u have received from someone who has minimal posts!! I didn't expect so many anglers on here fish around the eastern suburbs land based. Should all get together someday for a great day out. Well done on ur catch mate.
