  1. hey guys, me and a mate are heading out this sunday morning at about 5 00 down at pittwater, with the intention of catching our first kingys, we are compeletly new to this type of fishing but wanna give it a go. we have a 14.5 ft boat with tiwn 40s on the back, so what do we need to do, what are the best rigs/ bait, what sort of lures to troll, where to get live bait and how, [ will be the first port of call for the morning] what to look for on the sounder [if anyone has any sort of screens shots or websites here that would be awsome, using a black and white humming bird] any locations that are a must try, [ will head to lion island if the swell is ok] any other tips or adivce would be greatly appricated. cheers ollii
  2. just wondering what everyones thoughts on using a clip on swivel on lures, with bass season apon us i will be digging up the lures and bass rod out and im sick and tired of tieing lures on to my leader when one dosnt work and i have to change. and then the leader getting shorter and shorter and less time fishing and more rigging. do they affect the action of the lure do the add to much weight and unsettle the action of the lure will they spook the fish at all. i will be using a shakespear over head with 5lb braid and 10lb flurocarbon leader on a shimano 6'6 rod.
  3. hey mate me and edn another member hit up north narra last night for a session got down there just on dusk and went till about 10 30 pulled in a 70cm and 60cm samon and an 42cm taylor. the bloke near us also pulled in a few small flatties. so there are fish out there. and just before we left i had my 13ft rod with an avel on it pulled out of my pipe in the sand from a massive bite that just missed the middle hook on the ganged pillie. but still a good night out.
  4. i was up north narrabeen way a few weeks ago and a mate of mine pulled in a 60cm aussie salmon. and the week before i pulled in 2 70cm salmon and a 40cm taylor
  5. i recon that whole area is seriously over boated and fished.
  6. cheers much appricated. ollii
  7. fist time poster here so gday to all. recently i was offerd a maple strike runner reel at a very reduced price. ive only used it twice now on the beach on a 12ft rod and it seems to be a good unit despite all the critisim they have copped, but mind you i normally fish with an alvey. my question is, this reel seems to have alot more features that im used to, while this may seem obivous to some, it has a knob under the reel, its kinda like a 2nd drag setting what dose this do. and it has a 'strike and run' feature which i asume is a little latch looking thing on the back of the reel [between the rod and reel area] what is the purpose of these features as i want to be using the reel to its full potetional. i have circled the 2 areas in the attached photo. and while all info is good info can we leave the critisim of freddies and maple fishing out if as its not gonna change the fact that i have the reel and it seems to suit my needs well. cheers ollii
