  1. Ha ha!! Lets hope so!! Let's hope Scratchie picks his game up so you don't have to beat him again! Good luck!!!!
  2. Any reports of Tuna in PS yet? Headed there next week! Thanks! AG
  3. Why not? If there were any eggs the salt would kill them anyway? I recon snapper would love carp!! They use them for fertilizer here but in Eastern/Central Europe they eat them and they are a prized fish on the table. Need to be out of rivers though or they are muddy tasting. I have eaten plenty of carp in Serbia, it's bloody good if done properly and in London lots of fishmongers have carp on display for the Polish, Serbs etc. They are also a prized catch and release fish in UK.
  4. Try a wiliamson jet popper, a maria loaded stick bait or a 9in slug go or slapstix. If they fail....... SEMTEX ;0)
  5. Really? I love Sashimi but always just use stripeys and mack's i catch for bait? Will try next time but they are full of blood non?
  6. The French love em! but just the legs....
  7. Had an early start yesterday 5.30 and grabbed a couple of live calamari hoping to get a king or two out at long reef, after a couple of hours bobbing about in perfect conditions I had no hits & decided to go do a bit of a drift on my way back in to the harbour. Just a red rock cod before a massive Mako came right up to the boat and nudged my burley pot before zooming off in to the distance!!! It was a bit unnerving as I was on my own so decided to head in to the artificial reef, had the live squid out for about ten minutes when the terez had a nice bend in it, thinking it was a nice king I leant in to the fish only for it to take off like a rocket!!!! then I thought wahoo or a spaniard!!!!! three seconds later an exocet missile launched 20 feet out of the water twice....It was another Mako!!! One of the best fights I have ever had, it was pinned perfectly in the corner of the jaw with the 7/0 black magic circle, I was definitely not going to try to get it onboard so decided to keep playing it until the 60lb fluoro gave up, ten minutes in and it did. Managed to get some video and a few shots but don't know how to upload vid. Amazing to see these creatures so close to the shore but a bit of a warning to any open ocean swimmers, the first one i saw must have been 10+ft and the one I caught was 7-8ft.
  8. Sure mate, I think the longer slug-go's/slap stix have a better action which helps to get the fish excited :0) We hooked them all old yeller.
  9. I have a 2010 DF 50, checked the oil when I got home and it was a quarter full, so no dramas. have someone coming to service it this week. great engines.
  10. Was up early and hit the water at 545am. Plan was to head out to troll some skirts in the hope of a Dolly on the way to long reef but had the oil light flashing on my dash! Gutted. Figured Suzuki must make allowances for an early warning system but decided to stay in the harbour just in case. tried a few spots for squid but only managed one small cuttlefish which was ceremoniously demolished by leather jackets when dropped at a marker. Grrrrr! Decided to have a flick at the markers with some 9in Slug go's and my mate Max got hit straight away but the 40lb fluoro wasn't strong enough and he got snapped off!! It was a big king maybe a metre plus. Second hit and the fish Stripped the plastic from the jig head! Third hit and the hook pulled!! Fourth and we managed to boat a fat 73cm king!!! Perfect conditions and lots of kings sounding at the marker buoys but they would have been easier with live baits. Also saw a seal pup and some dolphins. The pup had teeth marks all the way around his body but was fine. Must have escaped a GW attack
  11. Was out yesterday arvo, South head was like a jaccuzzi of Salmon, literally football fields of em! managed a few but very hard to catch. Someone needs to invent a transparent eye lure!!!! It's going to be an awesome summer!!!!
  12. Given, but you were only using light gear. I've lost some big fish on a trip overseas due to their hooks being made of tinfoil. I didn't have any others with me and there are no tackle shops in the Solomons. Apparently indestructible lure bodies, but what about the fkn hooks maaaaan!!!
  13. Cracking fish man, She's a brute!!! Why don't Halco put decent hooks on their lures? Aussie company should make lures able to handle big Aussie fish??? Craziness.
  14. Thanks W4z, not going till after the season opens :0)
