  1. Dont know about removing deisel soot, but for road tar rub some butter into the tar then wash of with soap. Found this out when I got some tar in my hair, an old fella told me how to get it out & it works a treat. Saved a savage hair cut!!
  2. g'day raiders, Just got my insurance renewal notice from a well known Co, and they require an insurance survey prior to renewing the policy. I should add the boat has reached the 20yo mark, is this the reason for the survey? Is a survey likely to be a requirement of all insurance Co's, as I am considering insuring elsewhere this year as I am strapped for time at the moment to search for a survey Eng in the Sth of Syd and get the boat up on the slip etc. Cheers S.
  3. Found this while searching for temp gauge solution. TM2 engine watchdog. The sensor fixes to any bolt on the engine block and therefore does not require fitting into the coolant system which could lead to leaks on this site. http://www.fullwavemarine.com/store.html Sorry dont know how to attach link porperly S.
  4. Thanks for the replys guy's. I have twin 165 mers as well. Just had the transom mounts for the legs replaced, so not that cashed up but am concerned that the flybridge has no gauges. I guess the simple way to sort it would be to relocate the lower cabin gauges to the flybridge ut would prefer not to go that way. Will check out the VDO sensors. Cheers Steve
  5. Pelican, went to the local go cart shop, they either had a very flash steering wheel, which would give me lap times and as a by product digital temp readings. They also had little digital temp displays with a metre of cable to the sender, which needed to be installed in the coolant system somewhere. these temp displays did not have an output for a screamer or adjustment for warning, so were of similar operation as the analogue temp guages. I will try the web again and see if I can find something such as you mentioned. Cheers Steve
  6. Thanks Jewfish, there is a go-cart mechanic workshop 30m from where I work. So wil defiately be in there for a chat tomorrow. S.
  7. After some advice. The boat I have (25 Bertram) has temp gauges fitted in the lower station, but not on the flybridge. Which is where all the steering is done from. Can I just get a second pair of gauges and double them up with the exisitng ones or does this job require different temp senders or other bits. Any help appreciated, as I have just had a fair bit of expense on the boat and would like to be able to monitor the engine temps while underway. Cheers S
  8. Cheers for the tip, since I first posted I did give tackle world a call, very helpful and gave me a couple of numbers. Due to time difference got a couple of hours before he said to call. Fingers crossed I wil get a trip or to. Cheers Steve
  9. I'm off to Broome next month and had planned to try my luck for sails or other gamefish. So far have struck out on finding a charter. The two main charters I found on the web are no go's. Was really hoping to get out while over there from Sydney, even got the misses to agree to 2 days of fishing, so if anyone can help out with who I should give a hoy to, would really appreciate it. Cheers Steve
  10. Thanks for the responses, I am well imprssed with the look of the built in tanks, maybe take some saving up for but look awesome. Thinking about maybe converting the esky box (aft seat of dinette) as I have a Engel fridge on board, under table when under way. I could utilise the existing esky liniing maybe. I am not keen on cutting holes in the old girl for inlet/overflow, again thinking that the inlet/outlet for the toliet may be an option. Any thoughts? Steve
  11. 700 homes & 65 confirmed fataltiies, it is impossible to comprehend the scale of this tragedy. My sympathy to those who have lost loved ones and for those who are worried for thier families. I & I'm sure the rest of the generous folk of the fishing fraternity will be chipping in whatever we can to assist. S.
  12. Hi my first post on this site, so if the question has been asked before sorry, I did a search & didnt find anything. I have a 25 Bertram and wish to fit a live bait tank. With the motor pod taking up a fair bit of the available space I have not come up with where to fit the LB tank, other than on the marlin board, which is not a preffered solution. Any advice on how best to fit a LB tank to the old girl will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Steve
