  1. Hey mate, I have had a 4.5m tinny with a 15 on the back and it ran fine mate. Didn't encounter any dramas with it, just cruised around inside the harbor mostly. Great tinny the seaman!
  2. Good stuff AL! Cya friday hopefully if youre free
  3. Hey Mate, We have found that even with livies down, kingies have been going for just floating pillies down, and ignoring the livies Hope you have some luck Mark
  4. Hey raiders, Headed out to Middle harbour again with some mates. Been getting heaps of small kings, and pulled up this monster trev just on some pilly and a small sinker just off the bottom. It measured 57cm which i see is a fishraider record for 3rd place? What are the requirements for making it an actual record? Cheers Mark
  5. Hey guys, After some advice/guidance on what boat models I should be looking at in looking for an old aluminium hull that is rated to carry around 7 or 8 people. Basically looking for a cheap hull to keep inside the harbour but being able to take plenty of passengers. Thanks for the help! Mark
  6. I'm liking these though! Keep them coming! Cheers everyone Mark
  7. I am an industrial designer and keen to know if there's one thing that you think should be designed in the fishing equipment realm of products, something to make it easier, or eliminate a problem, or just something you'd love to have. Or even something you think should be simpler and cheaper E.g. Something to prevent weed hooking onto chrome lures when trolling Cheers Mark
  8. At this stage the thought process is geared towards incorporating a PFD into something similar to the current fishing shirts (i.e. the berkley/shimano style sleeve, collared shirts) or something similar ( may look into more of a jacket style). The ideal design will hide the PFD and be as light as possible for the user, as they will be wearing it the whole trip. Through material technologies and design innovation the hope is that fishermen/women will not even notice that they are wearing a PFD, but will have that security should an incident arise. The large majority of the design work is ahead of me, which is exciting, and hopefully I can come up with the goods for the sake of all anglers! There are obviously alot of considerations that need to go into the design which I have not mentioned in these few lines! What do you guys think of this type of thing? i.e. incorporating the PFD into a fishing shirt/ jacket.
  9. Alan! Na using the yak I already had, its an ocean kayak 11 foot (i think its called a scrambler?) but I fitted a little electric motor to it last week, and am keen to get into some good fish. We should yak soon! You being catching much down your way? Cheers Mark g.w! Mark
  10. Hey raiders, Where is the closest place I can launch my kayak for sugarloaf bay? Cheers
  11. Thanks all for your feedback so far! Thanks for pinning it swordfisherman!!will be very helpful. alluring good to see another ID out there obsessed with fishing! Keep the feedback coming! Cheers Mark
  12. Hey raiders, I am an Industrial Designer and am in the process of designing a PFD purely focusing on fishermen and women. I have done all my research and background info gathering but now comes the fun part of actually designing the thing. I would love your input. Whether you fish from a boat, a kayak, from rocks, from the beach or anywhere else! Let me know things you love about current designs, things you hate about current designs, features you would love to see in a new PFD design, comfortable designs you have tried, uncomfortable designs and anything and everything related to PFD design that might help me design a flotation device that will best suit you! Thanks very much for your help with thisl I hope I am not breaking any rules re: sponsors etc! Cheers Mark
  13. yeah exactly what brettman said! Had a much worse session today, didn't troll up anything. Saw a big school of salmon working the end of a bay pretty aggressively but that was about it! We have found the time with the most activity to be low tide Mark
  14. Hey mate we have had some luck on frigate mackeral, tailor and bonito in the last few weeks. Have just been trolling tiny chrome lures from Apple tree bay all the way up the hawkesbury and if we see some big groups of bust ups in a bay we'll stop and flick towards them. Hope this leads you to some fish! Am heading out tomorrow so hoping there is some fish around! Mark
  15. hey raiders, I am going to get quite a heavy set up for my next outfit. I want to keep the cost below $250 if possible Would love recommendations on what combo to look at. Also trying to decide between overhead baitcaster reel or just to go with regular spinning reel I will load it up with 50-60 lb braid, and be chasing kings and big snapper with it, both landbased and from boat (mostly boat) Cheers for any advice! Mark
