  1. Went to port stephen's last week for a valentines get away. Stayed at nelson bay. It is my first time at nelson bay. It was a wonderful experience! Heard alot of stories about people catching marlin. God there was so many deep sea boats at little beach. Anyhow rent a boat at the marina and started to troll around 8:30. We rented a boat for 4hours and had no luck at all. All we got was just undersize snapper, leather jacket and legal breams. We were after some decent kings! All the fish was released. Anyhow my baby thought I was upset so my baby said lets go to one of the beaches to fish for some more landbased action. We tried little beach, saw bonitos + king trolling around bait fish, but it wasnt taking our lures! The bonitos and kings were really close to the beach! it was swiming in less than maybe 1ft of water. I was really amazed. After about an hr of no luck, we went to a different beach on the other side. we were pretty depressed on not catching any big fish by them to our surprise I caught my first legal flatty at 52cms. It is my personal best! it is also my first legal flatty and also I caught it on SP. It really made my day. Will post a picture soon! I was filled with joy when i released my flatty. I hope there is more of that to come!
  2. Little beach at shoal bay is the way to launch, cause i heard people saying them caught marlin. p.s. you cant fish at little bay on boat. landbase only have seen people fishing there on a boat and the patrol went up to them. dont want you to get fined.
  3. I thought these things take awhile before it becomes effective. I mean there might be fish there, but it wont be very big. Maybe it will take a few years before the fish grows bigger.
  4. I use similar technique as rod1448. It's called briddle rig. Look it up online there r videos on how to do it. It's most effective way to keep your bait alive for the longest.
  5. I tried bonito as bait. But I had no luck with them. They are more for the use of burleying. As for eating, in the start of the summer I eat a bit, then but the end of it, I am sick of bonitos. I bet they are good japanese dishes!
  6. Definately will have more reports to come! I havnt seen a bonito that big yet. I guess you guys catch the big fishes! catch all the bonitos and you dont have to worry about them anymore!
  7. hahah next time i will keep that in mind. What kind fish does this live bait bonito will catch me?
  8. The fish has fed me already. it is a bit hard to put it back on the brag mat
  9. There are alot of people at tom ugly bridge. I heard it produces quite a feed!
  10. Hey guys went to the shire to do some light fishing. Saw some fishes splashing in the water late afternoon since there was not much luck with breams and stuff. Tried out my trusty pencil and BANG! got a big one on the run. felt really heavy and gave a good first run and let it run for awhile. started going slow after a few just when i was winding it let off another run towards the beams.it gave a good fight and was so heavy for my light equipment that i had to pull the line by hand and cut myself a bit it was worth it though she was a beauty! it was dead before i could lift it up with the big fight so i kept it. its around 60cm caught on 8lb braid and 16lb fc. Its the first catch of the year. It made my day!
  11. how are you targeting them? lure or bait?
  12. Hello mate, I don't have a kayak. I don't know much about it. HOWEVER, I have brought cheap gear before. It did not go well at all. After the one session at the rocks. the reel seized :S. Now i buy quality well known brand reel and they last a very long time.
  13. Hey guys, what does the number on the telescopic rod mean? I think it is called the power number?
