  1. Nice work mate. Not asking for your good spots, but where are some decent areas to fish on the cotter? Cheers mate
  2. The lakes are a good option at the moment for carp. Redfin have been a bit slow the past couple of years. Ive had some success at night at Lake Tuggerarong with bread and worms as bait just fished on the bottom. Carp, yellowbelly and cod have been landed with my biggest an 80cm+ cod on bread.Isabella pond has also been good with carp on bread. Soft plastics will get you plenty of redfin if they are around and the occasional carp. My favourites are squidgy flickbaits and fish around 60-70mm and the similar size powerbait minnows. Hope this helps.
  3. Ok CHeers, Caddis Are they taking wets or dries? Thanks
  4. Cheers mate. I went there on Sunday and managed 5 rainbows on powerbait but none on fly. I flyfished throughout the day including morning and evening and got nothing. I tried a little brown nymph, mudeye pattern, bead head wooly bugger, matuka and Mrs Simpson. Jeremy
  5. Hello, I've been trout fishing a few time but i've only just recently begun flyfishing. I was wondering if anyone had any hints, tips regarding flys and techniques i should use. I will be fishing Anglers Reach at Lake Eucumbene for a day trip so will be keen to at least a get a bite on the fly. I've caught carp and redfin on fly but no trout. I have a collection of dry, wet and nymphs but will be willing to get some more if anyone knows some good ones. Cheers, Jeremy
  6. Carp also take flies as well. Ive had success with big grey wets, and small white minnow ones that sort of resemble bread. Fish them slow. Also burley up with bread and you could try dry flies. BTW Bonito is one of my favourite fish to eat and Australian Salmon isnt bad, ive also eaten carp overseas and it is nice if prepared correctly. Cheers
  7. Went for a fish the other day down at the creek that comes out of Lake Tuggeranong, Canberra. Has produced a few yellowbelly and cod for me in the past but mainly redfin and carp. After losing my soft plastic to knots in my braid i decided just to baitfish for a bit. All on worms i got 3 carp, 1 biggy(60-70cm) and 4 redfin. After noticing my line with bread was pulling a bit i striked and hooked a nice little cod. It was probably only 37cm but was good to see a fat and healthy cod in a waterway usually dominated by redfin and carp.
  8. Haha yeah first time i did was a fluke, i'd left my floating lures out on the water then was surprised to see my rod being dragged in. Happened 2 or 3 times, i landed all 3 and they were up to 65cm. I've also caught them on softplastics while fishing for cod, yellowbelly, redfin. And they've actually eaten the lures, quite a surprise. Carp on lures doesn't happen all that much though, Good Luck
  9. What about for the size limit? (If Applicable)
  10. Hey mate thats a nice cod from the river, i fish for them in the summer so far my biggest is around 60cm but my mate got a 110cm from Lake Tuggers, Wonderin if you could share any tips, spots anything ive been keen for a while to land a cod out of the river, THanks, Jeremy
  11. Did you really catch a cod in bonython pond? If nto which lake is that? I never new there was any good fishing at bonython. Thanks
  12. Yeah powerbati is great, we used it at Lake Eucumbene and got plenty of rainbows. We were using 4lb leader with really tiny hooks, like those kids use for goldfish justabout. Rainbow worked well in the day and orange pulp worked well at night. Apparantly chunky cheese is the top flavour and catches quite a few browns as well. Experiment with different colours and find what works, Jeremy
  13. Got back yesterday, fishing was good. On wednesday we got to Anglers Reach threw a few rods out and set up camp, before we had finished my mates rod was bending over, a nice 33cm rainbow on the powerbait. That day we got about 4 or 5 more. In the evening i got the biggest of the trip, not that big though, a rainbow of about 39cm, we ended up reaching our bag limits before we went to bed. It was lucky we decided to call it a day because it started snowing. Freezing night, iwas shivering in my -10 sleeping bag. At 3am we decided to move into the car, My mate slept well but i wasnt so lucky, at least i got to watch the sun rise over the moutains. In the morning we got one more rainbow again at around 33cm and i hooked up to a big one, but i dint hook him right oh well. Wen went home with plenty of trout for the able and we had a great time, first time wed been troutfishing, we usually fish in canberra for natives, carp and reddies. Hopefully i can fit another trip in before the end of the holidays, Cheers, Jeremy ( Forgot to add that they were all caught on powerbait, mainly rainbow in the day and orange pulp at night, probably explains why we just caught rainbows ) Only pic i could manage before the camera broke
  14. Heading out to Ecumbene on wednesday should be good. THeres been reports of 20-30 fish in a session so fingers crossed. we are camping so hopefully it doesnt snow, Jeremy
