  1. Nice Bream mate!! I havnt fished from the beach for a few years,we'll have to organise a morning up there!!
  2. G'day mate. I see your from Cronulla. If you need any in-depth advice as for spots, time, tides hit me up with a PM. I actually went for my first Whiting pop for ages yesterday and got into a couple of really nice fish, their around if you fish the right places at the right times. cheers mate, Adam.
  3. Some good fish there mate. Yeah, they all look like Bass to me also. One of the easiest ways to tell is to look at the Pelvic fins.Bass will have a white edge to them,EP's being dark all the way through. That first pics is the best to have a look at to see what i mean.
  4. Yup,season closes today. You can still catch Bass and EP's,you cant have any in posession. But most Bass fisho's tend to leave them to their business at this time of year.I try not to annoy them while their making little Bass.
  5. I'd drop to something like 12-15,20 pound leader.Casting something far really come's down to the rod and casting action. What kinda rod and reel are you using?I reckon if ya wanna get something decent, there's better rock ledges to fish then Bass and Flinders. When this crap weather clears up a bit and your keen, hit me up with a PM and we could organise a fish somewhere if ya want mate. Cheer's, Adam.
  6. What kind of set-up are you using? Braid or Mono? I doubt that you'd be able to throw the Stumpjumpers far, their pretty light, but the metals should be able to go the distance.
  7. Hey bud, I've wet a line there a few time, years ago.I've caught Tailor and Salmon on Pillies under a float from there and sometime you'll get Pig's there. I have been told it's not too bad for Squid around there too. Hope this helps a little mate. Cheer's, Adam.
  8. Oh,1 more thing.Take it slow when backing down and driving back up the ramp. It's made of concrete slabs and can bounce the boat around a bit if driving too fast. It's not that bad a ramp with some water, just a bit hard at the lows. Good luck with it mate.
  9. Thommo's on to it! At lowish water level it can be a b#tch of a ramp, but it can be done.If your looking down the ramp, jacknife the boat to the right(east side)of the ramp.If it's very low, what we do is slowly push the boat off the trailer so the bottom of the transon hits the sand, then get a mate to SLOWLY drive the car and trailer away while holding the boat.Like Thommo said also,i wouldnt try it with anything over 4.5 metres, especially at low tide. You should be sweet with the 4wd though mate. Cheer's, Adam.
  10. G'day mate, Jibbon beach can sometimes produce some decent flattie's on plastics.I've actually caught my PB there(was about a metre long, didnt have a tape!!)As Brickman said, the flats around Mainbar are pretty good for Whiting on poppers and surface flies. Cheer's, Adam.
  11. Well done Nat,some good Bass there. I'm gonna be heading down around there in the next few day for a sesh, hope it's just as productive for me,maybe with a couple of 40's thrown in Cheer's mate, Adam.
  12. Thanks a lot Ray!! Should be a good day later when i go "Birthday Bassin'"!! Cheer's, Adam.
  13. I understand what your saying about the balance point, but you have to remember a rod with a reel on is designed to be balanced at the foregrip, not at the reel seat.Another thing to think about is having line running through the guides, and a lure/sinker attached to the line, this will set another balance point on the outfit. The weight of the line on the reel 'usually' make the balance point at the reel stem. I hold my rod/reel in the same fasion, and had the same drama's finding a decent feeling set-up.I use 1000/2500 Twin powers, and 7'2 bream finnese raiders/jewels,and find these balance up nice. My 2cents,hope this helps ya a bit. Cheer's Adam.
  14. Cheer's guy's! @Bulldog..We got a lot on 6 and 4 inch plastic stick baits and poppers. @Slink..the mid size roosta poppers did ok,but i had good fun with a large 'Walk-the-dog' style lure just ripped across the top. @High_speed.......It was strange that when Jonesy got his flattie, all the action stopped!! Maybe that 1 lizard did scare the kings away
  15. G'day guys, happy new years to you all!! Just a quick little post about fishing Botany Bay today. We hit the water about 5 with plans to start at Moll point for a couple of kings, and hopefully get a mate his first. It didnt take long for him to get one to the boat, followed by a couple from myself.Another mate was having a shocker, but he did manage to get a decent lizard to the boat.As the tide started to flow out, what little action there was started to taper off, with not even a follow on our plastic. We then decided to have a crack at the Salmon school that had busting up all morning a bit further out.On closing in on the school,we realised that it was a pack of King's feeding. We stopped the motor, then all hell broke loose!!It was mayhem for a good 45 min.I finally broke my 'King on popper' duck, with 2 in 2 casts, and the other 2 blokes hooking fish on plastics. All the King's we got were rats, but still fun on light tackle!Thing's slowed up for a bit with only a few small Bonnies hooked, till we made the decision to hit the Bream up on the flats.I got a few Bream on hardbods, and a decent lizard which inhaled my lure, shredding my leader just as she slid into the net, thank god for nets!I didnt wanna loose another hardbod, having lost a $25 lure to a solid bream a few cast beforehand. So 18 King's,4 Bonnies,2 lizards and 5 Bream, pretty good way to see in the new year i reckon Cheer's Adam.
  16. Well done boys, any Bass are good Bass in my book! I'm in the same boat with the lack of surface bites. Most of the Bass i've been gettin of late have been on divers, well into the night, with the Cicadas goin off their heads.Very strange. Cheer's Adam.
  17. Nice fish Poddy!! Nothing better then a few wild Bass close to home.Funny you didnt see any snakes,i'm pretty sure i know where you were, been seeing a few there the last few times i've fished there. Cheer's, Adam.
  18. G'day guys and gals. Only just joined, found this thread, thought i'd say hi!
