  1. Come on Scratchie, time to come clean, we were only trying to save the eskies, it was just that four blokes were attached to them that we ended up with extra crew. Looking forward to our next trip. Always an adventure, hopefully our next trip will be memorable for the fish we catch rather than the spearos we save. (Bloody spearers)
  2. Yeah mate, great to be out there on the water with you again. What a top arvo. The fishing only bettered by the company.
  3. Hey Jeff, i did the same, but solo.. woke up at 4am and knew I’d be pissed at myself if I didn’t get out there. I went all the way up to Seal Rocks hoping for some better water, alas 19-20 deg and green! I got a 36cm snapper only. Had the entire place to myself up there. Not another boat seen till I got back down to Broughton. Better than a sleep in. Happy new year.
  4. Wow! Compared to the slop we were in that's amazing.
  5. Hey Finin, wow, a glass out off the shelf? We were between 70-110m and were bouncing around inside the SE wind slop until we gave up at mid day. We had water temps from 22 to 24.7 deg. Went 0-0-0. Did see a big black free swimmer in 110m and a little one in 80m but they had no interest in our lures. Saw a solo Pilot Whale too. Bait seemed to be in close.
  6. I reckon getting out on a boat is your best option. Alternately try the eastern head land on the north beach. I had a couple of hits and some follows over there too.
  7. I cast poppers and stick baits on reef edge, on bommies, and over reef. We trolled between reefs. Find John. He's the dude with the last boat down the beach. Lives in a little shack. Old bloke. Local. Nice guy. First boat guy on beach (Danny) charges $150/hr...... Nice guy too. Not nice enough for $150/hr tho. Have fun. You know you will.
  8. Mana Island magic.... Nice place. Great fun with the family. i found myself a villager with a long boat and 60horses happy to take me out for $150fiji for 3-4 hrs. We did three morning sessions. Mac Tuna, barracuda, mackerel, GTs, Blue spot Trev.... Some good fights on my 5000 Isla but no BIG fish taken. Had some Dolly follow ups but no hookup, lost a good YFT too. villagers ate all fish landed. How do they not get ciguatera poisoning! I left my boat man a bottle of Ron Zacappa Rum which might help fend off the Cig..... thanks again ain for all above advice. Appreciated.
  9. Thanks guys. Fished Seals.
  10. Champion Steve. Thanks for your advice mate.
  11. Took it on the drop. 18m bottom
