  1. Don't think Baitrunners were designed for live baiting fish that try to pylon you in mind. I've got a baitrunner used it off the rocks and been reefed on locked drag. But i reckon...if your bringing in the weight of the fish and the drag is still clicking then its way too light...
  2. Hi Raiders, During the week the boys kept bugging me as to where we should go for the weekend. Clearly, not working hard at work at all. Usually, we hit the hacking because of the pristine waters and calm waters as one of the boys has extremely short sea legs, if none at all :hug:It's okay Adrian, if your reading this. Hacking usually produces a good number of kingfish, bonitos & mackerel for us so we decided to hit the harbour for a change. Felt like a bread & butter session targeting bream, trevally & flathead. Launched at Gladesville ramp at 5:00 and motored out to Clifton anchoring just out of the casting range of the land based boys. Just as we got the berley going, an idiot in a tinny (I hope he reads this) comes motoring around inspecting the boats around and heads towards the wharf. He goes in close, cutting across where the land based people's floats are and next thing you hear is drag going off from the line getting caught on his boat somewhere. He then proceeds to anchor up about 10m in front of us and starts microjigging. Why you would go in to people's casting range catch their line and anchor right next to another boat when there's acres of space in the area is beyond me. Get a brain and please attach it permanently to your head. Anyways, got that out of the system. You guys must all have some sort of experience like this? Please do share Back to the report. We stuck around Clifton till around 8 with nothing much to show for it. The sounder was going crazy but crazy for undersized snapper, so we made the call to move to another spot a mate of mine fished at. Within a few minutes of anchoring and sending the berley down, the baitrunner 2500 started singing and I thought I was onto a rat king given the sustained run and thumping headshakes... Up came the biggest trevally of the year just shy of 60cm! That seemed to kick start the session with every bream & flathead being over legal size mixed in with a couple of undersized kingfish (which were released obviously). As we were starting to run out of the bait, Adrian hooked up to a couple of small bonito which turned into a bait "time extension". Picked up a good sized salmon and more bream after that. Called it at 11am left them biting. Such a good feeling when you catch what you've planned to do. Not sure where to go next week now haha
  3. Mate that happened to me as well. In my case, it was the thermostat that was gone. Get it serviced should be okay
  4. I should of eh! didn't bring any sizeable gear as we were just exploring new spots. Guess we were pretty lucky to run into that school!
  5. It was a few headlands up from Manly Beach. Probably out of Manly already but didn't know what else to call it. Narh mate they were on bait, they did chase the metals but that's about it. Got them on bread, pillie gut on a small pan hook, ones you target blackfish with
  6. Raiders, Finally managed to get out on Sunday morning off the rocks with Dan. Plan was to spin & pillie till the wind picks up, grab some weed and target blackfish in middle harbour. Didn't know this guy had pre-rigged everything before and got the jump on me. I was still threading cast-away through my sea-jigger before I heard the soul-sinking words of "I'm on".... First cast he was onto a good sized Bonito on his 3000-sized baby Stella. I've got to say spinning off the rocks on small reels and light line gets the adrenaline pumping. Getting Dan to keep the fish in the water, I chucked my 20gm metal out, counted to 10 and started the retrieve. Two cranks "bump"....another two cranks "bump" then zZZZzzzzz. We cycled through the bonito school for a good hour or two before they disappeared all the while chucking in berley pillie with the free hand. After the bonito's disappeared, a huge school of garfish rocked up about 5m in front of the ledge. Boy they were hungry, I never seen garfish so easy to hook. Kept a few for a feed, rest went back into the dump. The bonitos weren't bled as they were for Barney, Dan's white samoi! Cheers boys
  7. Hey Dredog, Mate I was admiring your boat in the picture. It looks like an awesome setup but couldn't make out the brand or the make. You mind telling me what's your pride and joy called? Cheers Dwan8337
  8. I love your WIN WIN mentality
  9. Formosan, your one of the most consistent fishos on this forum! Congrats
  10. Someones gonna be emptying their wallets in the coming days..hahaha
  11. Thanks mate!! it sure does =] I don't remember it being this hard before in previous years
  12. Hi Raiders, Normally I wouldn't do this but i've been really baffled as of late. I can't seem to find any Yakkas around any of the usual haunts; Clifton gardens, balmoral wharf, manly wharf. Never spent so much effort trying to gather livies haha. Does anyone know which wharves they're at these days? it's really strange. Manly wharf I can understand as there was construction happening not long before. Much appreciated if you guys can share any pointers. I hate asking for spots but this is really bugging me as my boat is due for a service so don't want to really take it out and have it not be reliable, so i'm left with landbased livebaiting but can't find the livies =( shoot me a PM if you want to keep it private. Again, much appreciated! Cheers David
  13. hmm Stella 2013, it's a sign
