There are 2 types of real jigging patterns, I prefer just raising with one long lift of the rod, then let it sit for abit, and repeat, Colours seem to work in right light conditions, eg blue is good for daylight, while pink and orange work well at night, I have an orange one and the amount of times ive gotten a squid on it. Anyways ill post a pic of it.

At the moment it is at $0, as Rafinx buys most my gear, But my family are very enthusiastic about fishing, thus me getting fishing gear from them aswell, thank goodness because I had a 50cm silver flash of light hit rafs old rod and reel with 4lb line, go back into the depths with my bait and smash it off, even he couldnt stop it from running off with it.

It depends with the starlight where you go, low light conditions yes, but if there is alot of light, eg a wharf with a spot light, you dont really need it.

HEY! my name is Sara as promised by Rafinx to Mrsswordfisherman, I have joined the site as the next female in a male dominated sport, tho I have an excellent teacher, that is always teaching me new things and has gotten me away from all those little snappers and breams. , Anyways ill be hoping to catch my first Jewfish now that my boyfriend has got one, he said he didnt want to be greedy, so I cant wait to post my first report on it. I mostly catch the squid out of the too of us, And so far ive learnt to catch/target, Leather jackets, Yellow tails, Larger breams, Mullets and Tailors. But yeah squidding is my favorite.
