  1. I've given up on fishing the mornings or arvos on weekends, even though I work 6 days with Sunday being my only day off, its painful seeing what happens at the ramps, have lost count how many times I see people dropping the boat then waiting right there at the ramp taking up two lanes holding the boat whilst driver parks up... not to mention trying to snake in and jump queue's.
  2. We had the boat off the trailer at home to fit it on, I'll take a pic tonight of what it looks like fitted up later on tonight.
  3. Mate i've got a 4.1 and pretty much the same trailer design as you, We fitted the ezi-guide a few years back and now its easy to drive on and off the trailer, having said that, a couple months ago i went a little too fast and hit one of the guides too hard knocking it out of alignment, now it doesnt let the boat sit flush right away like it should, i have to wedge a bar between the hull and the unaligned \ roller to let it slip if you get what i mean. I keep forgetting to fix it up when we get the boat off at the ramp, either too eager to jump in and go fishing or too tired after spending the day fishing lol. Anyway, point is, Ezi guide, definately recommended and will do the job, just take it slow and steady. Perfect for going out on your own like i do most times
  4. Yea feel free to mate. I actually got no hits whilst trolling, only got the rat anchored up you can guess where, was probably a fluke.
  5. Yep i was out yesterday, bit a late start and with no luck on the squid i was forced to go with yakkas, nothing all morning except for one rat... Did see a couple seals sunbaking at mol. pt, must be alot of bait in the bay now would think that would heat up the fishing? ps. Big thankyou to quintrex480 for all his help! i will start landing squid one day! after that, bring on the kings!( its good to be optimistic right )
  6. You never fail to impress mate! Yep im heading to the bay tomorrow morning as well, looks like there will be a few of us! look out for the white 4.1 quintrex estuary angler
  7. Bit of a late post but better late than never. Decided to try our luck in botany bay wednesday night, left it a little too late, all our local bait shops were already closed up so we had no choice but to resort to servo bait (should've known to head back home at that moment). Tried to catch some livies but that also failed, maybe it was too dark? as we usually catch plenty during sunset for a nigh session.. Headed to the third runway, stayed for bout an hour and a half but it was windy choppy and kinda felt hopeless with the bait we were stuck with. Tried to move around to the second runway to hide from the wind but no luck there either. Headed home cold and wet but hey we tried, a mate of mine was also out on their boat and they said they managed a 75cm jew but they reckon that was just luck. Have now got some fresh squid stored in the freezer ready for the next session which may be tonight, hopefully more luck this time! Ali
  8. I'll take a pic of my setup when i get home. What i did was mounted the pump outside the boat(extended the existing fishfinder bracket so as not to drill the transom), for the tank i've got a bunnings drum that fits perfectly into a milk crate, i've made all the fittings on hoses/tank/pump removable so i just throw it in the boat or out to clean etc. much cheaper than other alternatives and much more convenient too!
  9. I think you just epically ticked off the one thing on every fishermans to-do list to be done before he dies. That is unreal well done mate!
  10. i was out this morning as well. was looking forward to testing out the new downrigger i picked up but sad to say its botany bay 1 - scotty DR 0... only stayed out for 2 hours i'd say, tried molly, drums and the oil wharf, too cold n windy for my likes so got the hell outta there. Ps tried for squid no go. and managed to find some yakkas but they went untouched... Oh well, theres always next week! btw what channel you use on the radio? i flick through every now and then but never hear anyoen either
  11. Yarra is the usual squid haunt, like Byron said, you always see land based blokes off bare island too, I just got too anxious and wanted to start fishing for kings instead of squid for bait, big mistake!
  12. i think im gonna have to beat BOTH of you before you wipe out the whole squid AND kingy population in the bay lol. followed your advice quintrex480 on the squid, tried a few spots there too but no luck, couple other boats there too didnt seem to have any luck, oh well always next time... i'll keep your tip in mind Trung next time im out there looking for squid, the only kings i've caught in the bay have been on fresh caught squid that a bloke kindly gave me while at the ramp as he was packing up and i was heading in, so yea i think i just got too anxious seeing all the boats parked up and me not catching any squid hehe. I spotted scotty lyons at molly pt too, didnt see him bring up any kings though so that made me feel a little better Im curious has anyone actually fished at the grounds in yarra? while jigging i did see a fair few shadows in the water roughly 40cm long, not sure what kinda fish but they were definately a good size...
  13. Hey Trung its Ali, was nice meeting you back at the ramps. While parked up near the 20 or so other boats at molly pt who were also having little luck, i was thinking maybe its just a slow day for everyone the fish are off the bite or something, thanks for proving to me otherwise haha.
  14. Started the day trying to get some squid at the weedbeds near yarra, had no luck and the time was ticking past so gave that up and went and filled the tank with some yakkas which are always easy to find. Ended up at Molly pt with the other 10 or 20 so boats, actually had a nice hit after about 5 minutes with a livie midwater, however it hooked onto the small sliding hook on my snelled rig not the 5/0 so after about 20 seconds fish is gone and the hook comes back bent wide open, damn... not much happening so went to the oil wharf for a little but there was a tanker there so couldnt get too close to the deeper holes near closer to the wharf, headed back to molly pt again and managed to snag a nice fat salmon, didnt measure it but going off the 1.25lt bottle beside it, woulda been approx 75cm. Please excuse the crappy iphone pic. Oh well, i think next time im gonna spend some more time hunting down the squid beforehand! Ali
  15. haha well done mate! I was anchored pretty close to the pylon so even with no anchor fish still woulda most likely made the pylon, guess ill have to find another spot further away dont know what i'll do if i lost another solid fish like that again! Im thinking of upgrading the line(no braid though just incase as i did notice the mono was all cut up for a couple meters so at least it held up a little braid woulda snapped straight away, and using a couple snelled circle hooks with locked drag next time, that way wont have to worry about stiking or running etc let the fish do the early work then get the fight started.. Oh well im sure ill see you out there this weekend shaggy! im still waiting for my revenge hehe
