  1. Hey all My name is mark and i joined this site in 2004 but havent been an active member for a long time due to the fact i was a contractor / owner driver and had little or no time to fish let alone get time to talk about my fishing adventures but enjoyed reading the fun you people have been having , but now im out of the trucks due to many health issues and now i own a small mower shop in revesby and as i have a life now you will be seeing a few of my adventures and hopefully a few good fishy pictures of my captures. Most of my fishing is done up at the central coast as i spend most weekends with my parents now helping them out so look out for few posts in the future!!! Mark
  2. Here is a pic i took one early evening on the central coast not to bad for a camera phone Mark
  3. Hey all After seeing all the blackfish reports lately ive brushed the dust of my rod and im up ettalong, woy woy way this weekend, i was wondering if anyone can give me a tip on some weed, i usually get some around coppa way but its getting harder to get there , Any spot you tell me will be kept in confidence or swap a few spots with you.. Thanks Mark
  4. Nice drummer there mate well done I grew up at pearl beach it has a soft spot in my memory were you fishing north or south side on the rocks Mark
  5. their called black drummer or rock blackfish (pigs are the nickname) as in they fight like a pig and head for snags as soon as their hooked taste great too gotta prep them the same as blackfish , if you hook one on blackfish gear (which is common ) they feed on green weed , abolone gut , peeled prawns and sometimes bread are good baits with very little weight chucked into the wash off the rocks and a stiff strong rod and hang on cause your in for a hell of a fight with light line , id say not many 50 cm models are brought in on blackfish gear with 4 lb leader Hope that helps Mark
  6. Outstanding catch there mate thats the best tale of a fish capture ive read in years if not decades and from a yak too well done
  7. Id like to see the size of the bag of chips that had to go with that fish Great effort Max
  8. Hey guys Dont hang rekless about the weight of the fish as he said we had no scales to weigh the bugger, we stopped at the tackle shop on the way home and they guessed the weight of it so we went with that he is an ex pro and we didnt bother measuring the length of it as as you can see most of his beak is missing . When we got home it took 3 of us to get it out of the boat and as you can see i iant no lightwieght the photo was taken post gutting and i can easily lift 80 kgs up and i tried to rest it on my shoulders and hold it up and i struggled , so guess what you like on the weight of it but 60 to 70 kgs it aint, all i can tell you it tasted good and the neigbours luved it as well and can wait till i get the chance to nail another one , its my PB and i got pics of it and its all history to me Mark
  9. Rob Aint those ships something to see as they come in or go out!!! Almost as amazing is the fact that they have more air power on the deck of the ship as we probably do for all the country. Mark
  10. Hey Simon No worries with the gaffing duties as long as i aint the anchor man Looking forward to getting out wide since HARPOON went to the new owner and getting among a few Mark
  11. Simon Great report as usual ,it will be sad to see harpoon go but buisness is buisness as they say but the next boat will be bigger and better .all in all it was a good day to be out there although it was a bummer to see my 2nd lumo going off as a marlins earring but thats fishing but it was nice for 10 minutes battling the fish and trying to stay on my feet with your eratic driving technique . heres a tip for anglers never get near 80 pound braid when its locked to the bottom and stretched to buggery it left a 12 inch stripe down my arm that is gonna take weeks to heal . I had the same problem with mushy flesh as you described not nice at all i nearly had to cook the stripeys for the kids to eat . As soon as the truck is sold and after my 2 weeks at coffs fishin, drinkin , fishin and sleeping (in that order) we will have to try some of my favorite beach spots for a jew or two Mark
  12. Simon Great report as usual thats why you get to write all our adventures hopefully saturdays run out to browns will be a good one and the last run for harpoon will produce a couple more marlin before she goes to her new owner but soon enough a bigger and better harpoon 2 will be on the way see you tommorrow Mark
  13. Choteo Me and rekless are heading out to browns this saturday if the weather looks ok ,no problem in tagging along with us if you want, we will be leaving from kyeemagh ramp at about 5 am getting some bait and getting out there with a stop at 12 mile either on the way out there or on the way back. Just give harpoon a call on 94 on the 27 meg. Although just like any other spot it can fire but ive been out there trolled ,cubed ,bottom bashed for zip ( make sure you got a lot of line cause its over 500 mtrs deep) but there are rewards out there. cheers Mark
