  1. Thanks for the heads up I regularly launch the yak in season there ill check out the carnage next week.
  2. Soldiers point port stephens awesome place.
  3. Just returned from 5 days at wisemans had a red hot crack with everything rubber plastic and metal as i dont baitfish.Did not land a single fish, but now for the good news.First morning took bro in law out with plastics only,an hour in he was doing the lure bagging bit and moaning about no bait.Shortly thereafter he lands a 40cm flattie on a grass minnow, hes now a convert.Out of nowhere my 7yr old son who has always detested fishing refusing to go and cutting my time on the water down, asks to go fishing so I buy some prawns for him and his cousin of same age. With apprehension I set them up and then began the routine of supervising two newby 7 year olds on thier first fishing trip.Over the next two days they smashed it plenty of undersized fish, eels a pair of keeper bream and a flatty nudging 50cm.These boys are hooked as solidly as the fish they tormented, and they were happy to see everything swim away after a little pat on the tail.Ive now had to get my boy his own gear and he cant wait to go again. He was very comforting as well constantly reminding me that I am a hopeless fisherperson and next time he well help me catch one as hes an expert.Experiences like this are why our sport is so great fishing in beautiful scenery at one stage a couple of roos sitting nearby for company and two happy kids.Try and post a few pics when i get the chance as a fisherman i make a great photographer apperently.Tight lines all.
  4. Plenty there mate when conditions are good one of my last trips launching at belgennys got 12 and hardly done any paddling.
  5. Bad luck on the king mate,I used to live bait kings off a jetty i found the best chance was pre set drag around thirty per cent of main line and let it run they always seem to head to open water. When the run slows tighten up a bit and slow deliberate pump and wind. When fish in site lock up take a long grip on the rod and try absorb the lunges as they search for the pylons.I found after many bust ups we started to land them in this fashion luck plays a big part as will every one giving you room to dance the kingy along the jetty. All great fun hope you get one soon. Also if no live bait available berley sparingly with large fresh prawns hole and sink a circle hook in one and float it down with them.
  6. Welcome mate im a macarthur lad too some half decent sweetwater fishing right on your doorstep.
  7. Caught a 1m plus flatty on a live mado, hooked the mado first the rod loaded up got the flatty then he spat the mado out with the hook still in its gob .Small live sweep are my number 1 john dory bait they work a treat.

  17. Sounds like a good plan mate the big boys might be deeper or in tight deep in the weed beds.Only fish for bass in rivers but when targeting weed beds I find a betts spin with your favourite softie gets good results, hope the big one comes your way.Look forward to your next update cheers.

  20. Have not used plastics yet surface kokoda bats, taylormade basscada,river2sea buggi and bubble pops colours black.Diving lipless crankbaits in yellow, lime or chartreuse dead slow retrieve.I fish the Nepean a lot as well.
  21. Found a willing surface bite late morning today using black cicada imitations caught 5 dropped a lot more patience was the key casting to shaded structure and let it sit as long as I could.Hope your having some luck as well.
  22. Great advice above I always take 2 large trays of lures on the kayak and lucky to use 3 each trip just a few colours in each lure type is heaps ,surface, spinner bait, shallow diver.I sometimes fish with a guy in a canoe who takes only kokoda bats in both sizes and a few different colours he consistently catches many fish even guiding novices to thier first bass, black is his go to colour.
