Top read!!

Caught this little beauty of Long Reef on Wednesday on 20lb leader, 5" plastic. Great fun came in at 60cm. Threw him back to fight another day.

Maybe we could put an application form for funding in (http://www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/mpd/better_boating.html) to excavate the right hand side, and get our lane back, and maybe get a fith one in. btw if you see the link on the page called "Successfull Projects" you can see this project has already made the list. Why they couldnt just put two pontoon jetties either side of the old (four lane) boat ramp is beyond me.....

I agree, I was actualy wondering what the best practice protocol is with this type of configuration? When you drop the boat in, do you just tie it off at the end of the jetty while you wait for the parking person to run back and jump in? When coming in, do you tie off at the jetty while somone runs to get the car? Wojciech

Definitely not... just came back a hour ago.... sign said 10th of July now.... fat chance.... here is the photo to prove it, taken today (6th of July, midday). W

We went out on saturday as well, first time I could not pick up any Yakkas at the usual spot. I am guessing due to the colour of the water. Then we trolled over to North Head for nothing and stopped at Old Mans Hat around 7am for three hours. Fishing the bottom with bait and flicking softplasitics.... Only thing we managed was a Rock Cod and a juvinile Snapper (both throwbacks)...... better luck next time, which might be a while away as Roseville ramp is closing for 6 weeks.

Wow, that is some serious knowledge. Can you tell me where Molineaux Point is?

Wish I could catch one big red for every four trips... great work! If they were easy to catch I guess no one would bother.

Great work!!! I went fishing on the lake a week ago... not much action but spoted three sharks that were not bothered by the boat and followed them for 5 min.... Scary stuff.. Cheers W

Fantastic catch. Just wondering if you had any safety tips (and/or fishing tips) for a tourist. Heading to the caravan park for our annual family holiday and taking the boat. Hoping to do some fishing, but don't want to end up on the 6pm news for the wrong reasons. It looks like the river mouth is benign, or should i be weary at low tied going off shore? Also will try to take the kids to Nowra in the boat for a bit of fun... and fish the river for some flatties....

Cheers for the great advice. Just want to ask does your VHF (or 22MG) works OK at 60Km? I am assuming you login with MR Swansea? Do you try and combine the run with a fullish moon for better viability or does in not make a real difference ? btw I grew up at Coal Point, and will be back in Newie with the boat and family over xmass, hope to go out with some mates!
